Anything not chinese and with 12 months MOT is worth £500+.

If it goes for a price you can afford then it doesn't look like a bad buy.

Any Jap 500 Twin is a great hack. Will probably last quite a few winters, and be nice and easy on the fuel.

Captain obvious here!

Seriously though, that looks like a tidy bike for that sorta money. Thumbs Up

ER-5s are good bikes. You could do a hell of a lot worse for a cheap bike.

They're infinitely better than a GS500, and they look better than a GPZ500, although everyone seems to love them.

I owned one just like this, same silver colour as well. They are good bikes but built at a 'price', for example, painted exhaust (get the barbecue paint on it after the winter!).

They are OK for a hack but a bit 'bland' but, absolutely perfect for a run-around or the first middle weight bike after passing a test or getting back into biking after a few years lay-off (I gather lots of training companies use them these days).

One tip, get small 'fender extender' for the front as the standard mud-guard isn't quite long enough, the front wheel flicks stones right up into the front rad - a few quid to Pyramid Plastics (other companies are available!) can save you a lot of grief - I learned the hard way.
