Im suffering in a bad way at the moment.

Just can't seem to get my clutch hand working, which is causing me to hit high revs. There's nothing physically wrong with my clutch/fapping hand, it's just some kind of mental block i'm getting with changing gear. This doesn't happen everyday, more like once a week i have this problem.
I'm telling the hand to pull the lever and there is a weird resistance, it can take up to 5 seconds of high revs before my hand will do the job intended for it.
It's bugging me.

Any similar stories BCF'ers or do you have a remedy for this sort of thing?

Cant say I've ever had a problem like it.

I know when I need to change gear, and it's just done, no thought goes into it whatsoever.

I've thought about the bikefap whilst on my boring commute to work, but my hand is glued to the clutch lever and not responding.
It would be nice to get rid of the clutch yips and maybe one day try the bikefap.

You're probably over-thinking it. Is there a solution? Apart from not thinking about it? Any other solution would involve thinking about it more, and probably make matters worse. Provided theres nothing physically wrong with your hand, i'd be inclined to try and forget about it. Which is probably easier to say than to put into practice. This isn't at all helpful, is it? Very Happy

Probably a form of OCD.

Eric Bristow had similar and it was termed 'Dartitis'

He couldn't let the darts go (true story) google it if you disbelieve it Laughing

It's all in the mind and you just have to overcome it.

Ive suffered with dartitis a few years ago strangely enough. Maybe im slightly tarded in one hand, a biker equivalent of Jeremy Beadle so to speak!

I sometimes get it where I pull the clutch in, let it out then change gear (with a big clunk) Laughing

Same sort of thing I guess, but it happens far less than you. I'd say 3 or 4 times since I started in December.

If it only happens once a week then it's fairly unlikely to be amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Possibly talk through the process as you do it conciously

Clutch in.
Foot flick.
Clutch out.

Never had the problem myself...

Is it only when you are changing up or down, or both?

I have tried to talk myself through one (oooeerrr) and it just wont budge, it is identical to the Bristow problem of not releasing the dart.
This only happens when changing up. The only rational explanation i have is that after biking constantly for nearly 2 years and maybe my age comes into it, that i have developed 'bikeitis'

I'll get over it eventually, i might try to use a different riding position to see if this works. A bit like golfers changing their swing when they suffer from the yips.
