That's the problem with IAM, once you've passed the test there's no retest (same with statutory driving / riding test). It's down to the individual, not the training. Just one of the minority (hopefully) who rides like a tw@t.
I think all car / bike entitlement should only be for a limited period. 10 years? Then a retest should be compulsory to maintain entitlement. This *might* filter out some of the numpties and leave the roads clear for the decent drivers / riders (and the illegal ones ). |

IAM types annoy me, police worshippers annoy me.
It doesent matter how much training you have had from other self righteous sam browne types, you are mortal like the rest of us.
At least the fast road riders (incidentally the ones who IAM/police look down on as squids) know they are riding fast and keep their wits about them rather than assuming... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

On the IAM observed ride that I did, I was impressed by the use they made of the road. It was a good demonstration that sitting in the middle of the lane is just habit. Some (perhaps many) IAM observers very likely are wannabe Plod, trainers or DSA examiners, but the couple that I rode with weren't. They were very nice, constructive, friendly, light hearted, the chap was an ex track racer.
However, when following them, they were often clearly not riding within their ability to stop on their own side of the road in the distance that they could see to be clear. And if you don't do that, then you're just riding your luck, and you can shut up forever about road safety.
Like the Plod drivers that I know (personally), I do expect there's a group of 'advanced' riders who think that their bit of paper makes them a safe rider, because they've shown that they know what to do. No. Doing it, riding safely, right now, this instant, makes you a safe rider, right now, this instant.
Aaaanyway, here's a video of the IAM planning their Continental Jaunt. I think that about sums it up. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

The IAM lot seem to be similar to the TA lot. You always know who they are because they HAVE to tell you within a minute of meeting them, then they look at you as if waiting for a round of applause or something. ____________________ RS125 > CBR6 > SV650S > ZX636R > GSX1300RZ Hayabusa > 06 RSVR Mille > SV1000S > Street Triple 765 RS |
