Tragic events on lap 4 of this mornings malaysian GP resulted in a major accident in which Marco's helmet came off and he was unavoidably hit by both Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi (both of which are uninjured) This resulted in the race being red flagged and Simo being rushed to hospital. The race was due to be restarted but the news came from the hospital that Marco had lost his fight and had passed away.

This is such a huge loss to the motorcycle racing world as he was a former 250cc champion and had a huge ammount of talent and prospect to realy go places in the world of motorcycling.

My thoughts go out to Marco's family and freinds, the whole of the MotoGP and motorcycling world and especially to his good freind Valentino Rossi after not only losing Marco but being involved in the incident which caused his death.

I was saving the race to watch this evening having recorded it.
I can not watch it now, I don't mind watching big crashes, even enjoy watching them when you are sure everyone is ok but knowing someone died is to much.
A sadly missed entertaining rider.

I had it on record to watch this morning; because of the crash, (and obviously it being canceled) the race was replaced with the 125 highlights.

I urge people not to watch the footage, it is truly sickening. Crying or Very sad RIP Marco. I feel truly sorry for Edwards and Rossi, the guilt they must feel even though this incident was 100% un-avoidable.

I watched the race and the incident keeps replaying in my head over and over. A truly horrific crash.

RIP Marco, you were destined for much more than you achieved.

Just a fitting quote I saw on twitter:

A life has never ended until all the lives it has touched have ended too.
I found it disgusting that there was no mention of it on the BBC 6'oclock news.

I set the live race to record this morning so I could watch it back this evening after I'd got my work out the way, only to hear about this tragic loss from a friend an hour before finishing...(How I'd not heard it on a news report throughout the day boggles my mind).

I can't even begin to imagine what his family & friends are going through, & poor Colin & Valentino (who I can really see hanging up his GP gloves after this)...Truly devastating! Crying or Very sad

RIP Marco!

we watched this live....ill never forget the horror.....I cant wipe it from my brain and just keep crying.
he was one of my favourite racers, im so sad.....just cant believe hes gone.

I hope Edwards can move forward with his plans after this, it was nobodys fault and we really dont want to lose the input and experience of another fabulous racer, my heart goes out to everyone involved in this, such a dreadful loss.

#58 forever xxxx

Just saw the crash on youtube and I am horrified...his helmet popped off by Rossi's bike as it went over him...Mortified.

Thoughts to his family and team, as well as Rossi who has to suffer it.

Bless his soul, RIP Simoncelli :'(

Absolutely gutted. I wasnt watching the race, would be the case of catching up later on the net, but when I heard the news in the afternoon my day was just ruined.

He was the one to watch and to watch out for in between the other riders. He was the next Rossi for me, always jolly and cheery.

'Oh well, I guess I might get arrested' that's what he said to the press regarding to sorting out the issues with Lorenzo. Something in those lines. Made me laugh as Lorenzo wasnt happy. That was the moment when I started following him and found the new moto gp legend to be.

I guess they all knew how good he was, fans loved his personality and ability. Such a sad loss, not sure if I'd be able to watch the Moto GP again.

He was someone I never met but felt like we all did. I was in Brno watching him climbing on the first Moto GP podium and was excited to be part of it. I'm lost for words since the news Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

R.I.P. Marco, you'll be missed!!!
