Just my thoughts..

Is it not about time we get shot of this one make tyre rule..

I'm recalling more front end crashes due to the Bridgestone tyres over the last few years... ever since Bridgestone have been running the show really.

Due to Bridgestones or due to the demands of the 800s to carry more corner speed?

Thats a close call as the 800s or smaller bikes do corner faster but I do feel this one is a tyre problem, I say this cos its all riders on different makes of bikes that are having crashes not just one make of bike. Very Happy

The one make tyre rule came along because Michelin stopped being competitive, lost the support of factory riders including Rossi and Pedrosa who switched tyres mid-season.

So the control tyre was born and Michelin didn't bother bidding for it. It would be nice to have more than once manufacturer playing but if one tyre proves to be considerably more successful then you'd just end up in the same situation.

At least this way we don't get riders don't use the tyres as an excuse.

Colin Edwards has confirmed he hates the latest Bridgestones.

If a racer hates the tyres he uses - without the option of changing to an alternative - then I would imagine that is a sign of something wrong.

Sure it'll suit a lot but not everyone gets on with them. If it was truly the pinnacle of bike racing then teams would be able to choose their own manufacturer to suit their (and their riders') needs.

Like Michelin used to be able to, but were then stopped doing in order to "control costs".

Be bad to go back to the situation where the select few got the best tyres at each race and no matter what bike you were on you had no chance without them. This is what happened when all the manufacturers were playing.
The control tyre idea works, just doesn't suit everybody all the time, nothing does. As for front enders, yes there seems to have been a few but riders like Stoner seem to have adapted and ride around it, surely a better test of skill than having an advantage from the start like it used to be?

Funny how i was having this convo with a mate of mine yesterday.

Came to the conclusion that Bridgestone tyres are just a bit toss! Laughing
