Seems a crying shame to put L plates on either of them, hint, hint.

Now go on bike trader and see what £1000 buys you in terms of a bigger bike.

if I said I'd be more than happy staying with a 125 (the Duke id pure s3x) & wouldn't want a bigger bike, would I get shot down in flames....I can't help thinking if I CAN go faster, I WILL go faster....end up getting hurt. Why is everyone in such a rush to pass their tests so they can get a bigger bike?

I honestly don't see the appeal of something that LOOKS like it should be going wayyy above the speed limit (not that this one does in particular) but in reality struggles to hit 60.

Just my opinion, I always get a chuckle overtaking people on sporty looking 125/50ccs

My thought's exactly on R125's other £2-3k plus 125's but there aren't many bikes in my area atm, and I think this one is a beaut.

Plus the guy seems in a bit of a rush to get rid of it so I'll see if I can't get it for £850

That larger bikes provide far more value for money.

The fastest L-legal 125 is still a dog compared to a ~25kW bike, and nothing looks good with L plates on it.

£121.50 to pass theory, Mod 1 and Mod 2 is an absolute steal, and there's no good reason why you can't pass them all within weeks. If you're good enough to ride on L plates, you should be good enough to pass your tests.

I'd love to take my lessons/test and buy a big bike, but there's no way I'm even close to that standard with the amount of experience I have, buying a 125 and getting a load of experience on the road is really what I need, Laughing maybe after a few months (:

It's a synopsis, for those who can't get through the novellas. Wink

You'd be surprised how easy the tests are. A few hours practice of slow speed stuff will see you through mod 1, and mod 2 is just about not nobbing up on the road. If you think you're likely to do that, then I'd question why you think you're ready to ride a 125.

Don't get me wrong, you're actually quite sensible to grab a 125 yourself and get some practice, all I'm suggesting is that you view the 125 as a temporary stepping stone, and go for one that's likely to give you the least hassle and depreciation for the few months you have it.

Well, I live in a very quiet area, and I plan on riding around the country roads etc just getting the hang of clutch/gears/slow speed manouvers before I go on the road as the only exp. I have on a bike is my CBT. So my plan is to get entirely comfortable on a 125, while saving up for my test/bigger bike, might be an odd plan, but it should work out okay.[/quote]

Hmmm one more question if anyone's still here, how do I find out if parts are available for it, Derbi aren't exactly hugely popular are they? I can imagine parts may be hard to find if anything goes wrong, how do I find out? Confused

£380 is ok for a new learner. What coverage is that? Suggest TP fire and theft...

Yep it is, no way I'd risk TPO, Yeah YBR, CBR, even XR and DT's were all around 400-450 quid insurance. Rolling Eyes
