Would never ride without my gloves on, as you automatically put them out when you fall and if you knacker you fingers/thumbs it makes doing a lot of everyday things very difficult.

This thread has been an education for me.... boots and gloves are next on my shopping list.

You've been riding without gloves?! I find riding my bike strange without my gloves on, where im so used to it the throttle seems to react different, obviously it doesn't, but it feels that way..

Agreed that it depends on previous experience. I'd say jacket, because when I came off I landed on my side and seemed to be sliding along for long while. My shoulder protector did a great job and I'd have been a mess of gravel rash too if I wasn't wearing it. Oddly my jeans ('I'll buy my bike trousers when I have a bit more cash...') didn't suffer any damage at all. Thinking about it though, my gloves were a bit of a mess too, so I think they probably helped a lot too.

Definitely won't be going anywhere without the lot on now. Got away with not wearing leather trousers once and might not be so lucky next time. Confused
