Bike/Car questions

Just some quick questions I've been wondering about...

I'm a learner of both a bike (over 2 years Embarassed

) and a car, and need some help with stuff.

Will my no claims bonus's on my bike apply to my car insurance?

I haven't done a theory test for either yet but is it true that if you take a theory test on one, you don't need to for the other?

No and No.

NCB is not usually transferrable from bike to car or vice-versa. if you find someone who will do this, please let us know!

And you will have to do 2 theory tests as the motorcycle one is marginally different to the car one.

Most insurance companies will not take notice of bike NCB, but will take notice of claims from your bike. Tesco do take notice of the NCB and not the claims though.

There are different theory test bits of paper for your car license and your bike license.

when i was gettting insurance quotes ages ago i was told full no claimes on a bike would count for a car (not full no claimes i dont think but summut). also getting a car quote bout 6 months back i was told my 1 years no claime on my bike could be used for my car, but turned out it was over 3 years ago Sad

lol sorry i cant remember what companys they were but might br worth a try to call round just in case.

You can transfer your NCB from one to the other but you can't use it for both at the same time.

In other words, if you have 3 years' NCB on a car, you can transfer it to your bike policy and start again on your car policy, or vice versa.

It doesn't transfer, which is annoying. However, I found that telling the insurance companies that I also have a bike/car went down well with them. Or that might have just been my sweet telephone manner and a bit of light hearted flirting that got me a discount Very Happy

Hanson & Roberts https://www.insurance2000.co.uk will allow you to transfer your car NCB over to their bike policies. I did find another company who would as well, but I can't remember their name at the moment. Confused

umm... Who's correct?? I've got a motorcycle theory certificate but not sure if it'll be accepted if I take my car test.

You will need to take a Car theory test to take the car practical test.
