Hi Ladies and Gents , im looking into importing motocross bikes into the uk from my supplier who is located in North Sumatera , ive never used them before but the prices the bikes look very good and if true could make some good profits here in the UK.

Ive asked them a number of questions which i will list below , the bike im looking into is a 2011 suzuki rmz 250cc which i could sell in the uk for around £2800-£3000 if there what he says they are. The cost hes offering me them for is £2180 that includes delivery to my home address using his courrier,

1) i asked if i can pay 50% up front and 50% when the bike arrives to me , my supplier says yes

This is info on tracking he sent me

2)NOTE : Please send us the scan paper of proof from your bank after you
completed the payment so we check/verify the payment from you Mr.Thomas

We will released the DHL Tracking Number for you in the same time you
completed the payment so you can check your order available and show the
bike order is already on the way to your shipping address information at
United Kingdom.

3)Yes we guarantee 100% the bike is brand new and original and the bike
delivered completed with a document.

So you don't worry about that partner.

We will not make you upset for this business , because we really want make
a long co-operate with you partner.

After you check every thing is good and not get a problem you can continue
to next order for future.

Number 3 is what he promised me when asked if the bike was authentic suzuki , and comes with documentation

If any one can give me some advice on what there opinion is plese let me know i would be very greatful as im no expert , in dealing with importing from diffrent countries.

Kind regards Thomas Thumbs Up

There's an old saying, you've probably heard it, which says if something's too good to be true it usually is. The language being used is dubious, sounds very "Nigerian prince"/419 scam.

I dunno, I wouldn't personally. I'd be wanting waaaay more information before parting with any money. A grand sterling in North Sumatra is probably a huge amount of money. They might take that and just disappear.

Caveat emptor.

Where's the import duty coming in? First registration fee? How much is his 'courier'? How can he be making any money at all on this deal?

It's a scam, simples. You're trying to get a brand new bike for a 1/3 of it's list price. You'll hand over a grand, it'll be months of 'yeah, it's in the post', and it'll either never show or you'll end up with a mountain bike with 'RMZ250' written in crayon on the seat.

There's no research needed, it's complete bullshit. Send any money to them and you will get ripped off. Simples.

Almost certainly a scam. If you're minded to take a big gamble, first ask to see copies of: EU Type Approval; Certificate of Newness; and customs documents from previous shipments including evidence that he's paid an appropriate amount of import duty.

But really, I think you'd be wasting your time.

Selling what? He's not selling anything, the bikes don't exist...

So you're looking at importing a bike from a country that doesn't exist then?

That would be SUMATRA.

Sumatera sounds like something out of Star Wars or something.

Mate, I wasn't being sarcastic, maybe a little flippant perhaps?! I'm just glad you asked on here first, saved yourself some cash and heartache. Didn't mean to upset you. X
