Not sure if this has been covered before 0 if it has I'm sorry!

Looking to get a decent bike cover for my trusty old bandit.

Currently using a cheapo one from argos thats not great and a little on the small side.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I've seen this one https://www.coveryourbike.co.uk/product.php?productid=16145&cat=259&page=1 but looks pretty expensive, but if it does the job then Thumbs Up .

Much appreciated guys!

Dan

Hey there!

I personally just use one of these:

https://www.getgeared.co.uk/GETGEARED_Motorcycle_Cover_Light_S_M_L

Its HUGE on my CBF, and it says that it will fit a CBR600 perfectly, so should fit a Bandit I think. It also has a handy little clip underneath so that you can secure it to your bike, and a ring through the front so that you can lock it up with your bike.

Thumbs UpSmile

You'd be surprised just how little of a windy day it takes to blow an unsecured cover off a bike. If you are just looking for a cover, get one of those ones with the clippy thing under the belly pan. Oxford do one - I managed to acquire one a few months back, and its great.

Ah, pardon me, I see from the link in the post above that the correct term I was trying to describe is an "underbike strap".

I have an Oxford Rainex cover which has said underbike strap.

It seems to be jolly good.

As above, I have the Oxford one. The strap was great until a few weeks ago when we had the stupidly strong winds that snapped it (god knows how). I now just pull it tightly and roll the wheels over it, and wrap the other side around the kick stand then under it. All in all it's done pretty well. Obviously with it touching the bike, water does seep through, but not too bad.

I got a cover from Argos.
Was like £24.99 or something like that.
Yes it works, keeping MOST of the bike dry, but if it's exposed to a days worth of rain the cover becomes damp and the wet manages to penetrate the cover and the seat of my bike gets wet ¬_¬

I guess it does pay to have a nice fully waterproof cover,
Hein Gericke seem to have some pretty nice options.
Especially the heatproof covers. frustrates me having to wait for my bike to cool down before covering it.

This is what I use....

https://www.feelgooduk.net/39-motorbike-motorcycle-cover-bike-home-shelter-garage.html

Does the business. Keeps her dry. The old oxford cover i used would saturate with heavy rain, blow around and generally be a pain in the ass

Oxford Stormex... honestly if I got caught outside without a key I'd huddle under it, even when putting it on the bike it feels warm inside.

Lasted me over a year now without any signs of wear, quite expensive but definitely worth it.

I've got the oxford bike cover great thing about it is that it has a hole to put the disk lock through so it locks the bike cover down securely.

I currently have the stormex - not had it for long so not sure how it will last over a wet windy winter but it does seem really heavy duty and warm.

Used to have the rainex which was essentially a cheap plastic sheet that ripped on the handle bars when a gust of wind came along. It was a hell of a lot cheaper than the stormex though.

I too have the Oxford Stromex one. Had it for 2 years, and its not aged much bar a bit of oil around the rear. It keep the bike dry, remains in place (thanks to the strap) and is easy/quick to remove.

But it has chaffed the paint off a small part of my fairing. Not a big deal, but its did blot its copy book early on.

Well after covering the bike up last night I didn't lock the cover to the bike and some little scroat has nicked it some time between 12:30 last night and 8 this morning. Bugger.

Guess it is back to using an old tarpaulin for a while.

The cover I have is similar to the Oxford one, although I can't remember the brand name...
Green, brushed cotton-type material on the outside, and white brushed cotton on the inside. Also has plastic luggage clips and a disk lock hole to secure it
Still proves to be waterproof even after 3-4 years of occasional use (cos we have a brick garage now)
Think I paid ~£30 for it from Sound Distribution, who don't appear to be running a website any more Crying or Very sad

I find the elasticated rim to be handy so that it hugs the bike and doesn't flap in the wind.

Feels very good quality and the inside is very soft to protect the bike.

Another vote for the Oxford Stormex, it keeps the bike snug and dry in all weathers. Bloody pain to put on though

This might help some people to put the cover on...

I take hold of the front of the cover (so that you are looking at the silver flaps pointing towards you) and I toss the entire cover like a bed sheet up in the air (whilst still holding on) and let the cover fall on the bike. This lets me pull it over the front of the bike quite easily, and then just stretch it over the back afterwards.

I imagine someone doing it differently might have quite a job, but I found that I can get the cover one like this in about 10-15 seconds tops.

Don't particularly want to do a video of it, but if it will help enough people I'll do it...

I have a Motrax bike cover, cost £40 mind Confused but brilliant cover. I was using poundshop ones before and they were awful and I needed one to last. This one I got has got soft lining for the front of the bike, heat shielded stuff down the sides where the exhaust lies, vents for air, holes for a chain lock to go through the wheel back and front and a clip at the bottom to hold it together. Yet to test if it’s snow proof, but it’s survived every other condition even high winds.

It also comes with a handy storage tank bag which fixes to the tank with magnets. Not recommened for speeds of more then 60mph as it tends to try and take off Laughing
