I'm wanting to get an idea of what aspects/features of peoples bikes they like the most and what they don't like about their bikes. Or what would you change if you could?

For me, I ride a 2006 Honda CBR125R. I like that it's small and nimble, easy to cut through traffic and easy on the wallet to run.
However, purely being image conscious here but I dont like how skinny the overall bike and tires are.

Embrace the cheapness!!!!!

CBR 918cc. Good all rounder and no probs with filtering. Only problem is eating through soft tyres. Having to move to sports tourers tyres (or lay off the heavy braking and heavy accelleration).

In one word.. Weight.

I have a Blackbird at the moment which is 225 Kilos and could lose 25 kilos.
But then I do say that about all my bikes. Thumbs Down
Plus a minor gripe about tank size..

GPZ 305

Like: low weight, neat size, 80mpg when grannied, or grin inducing when shown the whip.

Dislike: wondering whether the belt will snap before the engine explodes.

600RR;

Like: Handling on smooth roads, power delivery, fun factor

Dislike: Fairing falling off, handling on bumpy b-roads (quite skitish), trying to ride two up - handling changes and cant easily hang off which is how this bike needs to be ridden

GSX1250

Like: Torque from low revs, easy handling, little change from 1 up to 2 up with full luggage, Excellent for going places because of storage, get there feeling relaxed, any gear overtaking ability, handling on b-roads gives more confidence than a newer sports 600

Dislike: Fuel warning light, it has two and a gauge but first one comes on FAR too early, gear shift indicator - why? it doesn't need it, lots of torque but not loads of top end HP

I find each of these two bikes counter-act each others bad points, so depending on the purpose of the trip I can happily take one of the two.

Like:
Styling, engine noise, usable power, tip in, character, father/son bond on same bikes, colour, being on something under-rated and different, brakes, rear mounted rad and fans, small qwirky styling of bits on the bike.

Dislike:
mpg, turning circle, early model dash that resets sometimes (not mileage, just trip) on ignition.

Would add flaking paint on lowers, but got new fairings so no problem anymore Very Happy

ZX9R - Amazing Kawasaki engine. 100cc down on Yamaha's 98 R1 yet it has a quicker quarter mile and the same top speed.

Dislike the finish, it's woeful

My XJR400?

Likes: Noise coupled with the low gearing, you can scream away feeling like Rossi without breaking a speed limit. It weighs nothing, the suspension is pretty decent and it far more nimble than it looks. Plus it has oodles of 'character'.

Dislikes: It eats cam chains for breakfast, it makes a different rattle every time I start it. It's too old to be mint, but not ratty enough to be a hack. Oh and an old milk float would destroy it in a top gear roll on, I've seen lego motors with more torque.

1986 Honda H100SD

Likes: Thin (cheap) tyres, brilliant on snow and ice, weighs nothing, absolutely indestructible.

Dislikes: Running up and down with it for 15mins this morning to try and start it, before giving up taking the Varadero instead.

GSX 750 F (rat fighter)

likes : the looks its power delivery easy to modify design (almost no frame work needed to turn it in to a fighter) its handleing for a 220+kg bike the £600 it cost me and the fact that at with a 22 years old rider just passed his test its less than £20 a month third party fire and theft insured XD
dislike that fact its a 220 kg + bike standard set is a ball crusher under brakeing fuel tank switch has a habbit of digging in to my left knee if i slide forward

overall a very good and under rated bike i though it was gonna be crap till i rode one . handed over the cash when i got back Smile its great for everything i think plenty of torque 2 up still pulls well very comfy and 150 mph + top end . on a budget i cant think of a better bike

Honda CG125:

Likes: Nimbleness, old style factor, very light.
Dislikes: Too small, rattles alot, underpowered, brakes squeek front and back and are pretty ineffective. Most of my braking is engine- embarrasing.

Kawasaki GPZ500S:

Likes: The smoothless of the clutch (esspecially compared to the CG), sound, fairly good MPG at 60 average, amazing suspention coming from the CG.
Dislikes: Restrictors, Seating can be hard after a long day, chain is being an arse, front brake is warped.

Other than that Smile

Buell XB12S Lightning
Like:

Torquey characterful engine, open the throttle in any gear and any revs and it goes quickly.

Ace handling, best handling of any bike I've ever ridden.

Size, suits me down to the ground.

Looks, Ugly and yet beautiful

Innovation, I love the rim mounted brake disc, fuel in the frame and oil in the swinging arm.

Dislike:

5 speed gearbox - could do with another gear

Imperial fasteners on the engine

Poor build quality

The fact that it is now written off.

Honda VF500FII

Likes: Looks, Vfour rumble, very nimble, very comfortable seat, great for carrying pillions.

Dislikes: Twitchy throttle at slow speed. Skinny back tyre and uncommon front tyre size (not really that hard to get ahold of, but it's there). Low MPG.

But the likes obviously overcome the dislikes.

Like ... orange wheels, enough power to deal with most things.

Dislike ... forks leak regardless of how many times you rebuild, burns oil, has an FI problem, eats tyres, getting a bit worn and tatty.

Aside from that, all good

I have one bike I judge all others by, the Fireblade RRX, last of the carbies. With the front wheel changed out for a 17'', rear shock modified by Kias in Leigh, jetted and a Yoshi can, it took me touring (500 mile days easy) many trips to the Nurbergring/IOM and was civilised enough for shopping trips. Superb build quality, never, ever missed a beat.
This year.
Blackbird 1100xx. For a 'tourer' it is lightning fast, very comfortble, especially with a Vario screen fitted. Massive tank range. Good build quality, just watch the Reg/rec as it fails, typical Honda. It is long and heavy but handles well enough, once your arm muscles have built up a little strength. Very good value if long distances are your bag, but dont take on a sportsbaike in the twisties. Linked brakes can be positively dangerous in certain, very isolated circumstances. It is impressive, but essentially soulless.
Triumph RS Sprint. Once you have the ECU properly mapped, a real performer. Handles very well, brakes are renowned as being amongst the very best, long range fuel tank 200 miles at a very fair pace. Not the best looking, but built well. Sounds a bit agricultural but smooth as silk once moving. Just when I am considering one for myself, prices seem to have rocketed, maybe people are finally catching on. Recommended.
Yam FZR600 rebuilt from ground up. Light, good enough handling but revvy and 'tinny'. POOR build quality.
Bandit 600. Far better than it should be. Good fun, reliable and very easy to work on / service. Build quality is actually OK if looked after, a definite thumbs up.
ZZR 600. Bought one for a mate, was so impressed I bought one for me! His is a silky smooth 14000 miler, mine a bit more rattly at.. 50000 miles. Both perform far too well for licence comfort. smooth, good fuel mileage, handles very well indeed, contrary to folk lore. Plush, very well equipted, but a PIA to service, lots of panels to take off to get to its guts. VERY highly recommended.
GPZ 500. Rattles and clunks, all partof the experience. Light, very frisky, ugly, chuckable, cheap. Simple to service and repair, not something to love, but certainly to respect. OK in a hairshirt kind of way.
VTR1000 Firestorm. Evil, lumpy, useless around town, no good for a long day, you spend moe time in petrol stations than on the road. A real pain to work on, everything is stuffed into the minmal space on the minimal frame. I couldnt ride it, but my mate could make it sing. A very Marmite bike, I hated it, Pete thought it was the bee's knee's. Very cheap for the performance, and, very cheap to fix too. Consider one of these at your own risk.
Yamaha FZX 750. Just got this one in, usual neglect gives scabby paint and alloy syndrome, but the engine is sweet enough. Jury is out on this at the moment, I'll wait to see what its got once the refurb job is finished.

Honda Cb125 1986

The best things about it for me is the high acceleration and with it only being a 125cc bike (officially 124cc) it sounds like a beast Twisted Evil especially when filtering.

Also filled up a full tank of petrol that will last me a whole week on £6 which is not bad which will cover 64 miles.

The only feature I'm not over excited about isn't actually a feature it's just me... That is when stopped I use high acceleration sometimes so it does a back wheel skid. Oh and no kick start which can be a pain if you stall a lot.

However after getting the clutch tighter I haven't stalled once which is amazing.
