xr125 l3 burning oil

Hi all hopefully somebody can help me. I bought a Honda xr l3 2004 and the guy I bought it from had re-bored it. Problem is it smokes badly so I stripped the head down and replaced the valve seals but on starting bike its exactly the same after a few seconds it smokes. When I stripped it down there seemed to be oil on top of piston.
Anybody know what it could be. Is there any chance its the crank seals?
Lastly there was no play in the valves as you slide them up and down

If its burning oil, oil is passing the rings.

Why did he have it rebored? Assuming he ran out of oil.

Maybe find out how big the oversize bore is and get a new piston and rings... I'd say rings anyway...if its burning oil.

I presume it was smoking and thought that a new piston and rings would sort it and it didnt. Thats why I fitted new valve seals I am going to strip it down again but really need some advice on what to look for other than piston and rings.

What size piston and rings did you buy..?

Hi sorry could not answer you earlier as I was out. I didn't do the re-bore someone else did and I tend to believe him. Size im not sure will strip down tomorrow and measure the piston and check the bore.
