Since I have started work and not getting to ride my bike as often, I find whenever I am out now I ride really aggressively and see the needle higher than usual.

Anyone else find that the less they ride for fun that when they do it is far more risky than when they could go out whenever?

Other way around for me, if anything.

If I'm doing something all the time, I really start to get in tune with it and want to really push the limits, while doing it occasionally, I'm happy at a more sedate levels.

Ie, the trackdays I've done over the last couple of years would have seen me bored, certainly with the pace I've been riding at.
But because I'm not so used to it any more, it's been quite enjoyable even at the reduced pace.

Similarly, now filter at a much slower pace than when I was going through heavy traffic daily and got used to the gaps my bike could fit through pretty precisely so while I wasn't really taking much bigger 'risks', I was overall going faster.

Yes.

Now that 99% of my seat time is spent riding to or from work I take it easy and can't be arsed with riding fast/ragging it. If I go for a fun ride I struggle to get out of the pootling along attitude so ride rather sedately, whenever I take a break from commuting the bike gets abused.
