 |
|
Shortly after posting my other thread regarding the insurance company trying to rob me over the theft payout i get a call from the police saying my bike has been found a couple of miles away.
I cycle my ass down there and it turns out its just been crashed into a Golf the victim in that car and a van driver have seen the rider(s)? get up and push it down the road into a cubby hole in an estate, which is where i find it.
Its smashed on the left side a bit, handlebars are bent, bar end gone, lock is still present but fucked, when i got there the lock was in the steering lock position but the bike's ignition still on, wont start. The police waiting for me had a cheapo bashed up helmet and spanish plates which were crudely taped over mine.
The police have left me to it, so i pushed it a street away disconnected the battery locked it up and left it.
Ill have to sort out a van tomorrow to recover it, ill try gumtree.
Do i have to report this to the insurance?
As per the other thread the claim process is well under way already had the valuation, would the police finding this record the bike as found or no longer stolen now??, is it asking for trouble to flog it off cheap now?
I assume i would still be claiming for it as stolen -damaged if i did inform the insurers
I dont want it, its unclean who knows what they have done do it, bloody spaniards. It annoys me more that its spanish thiefs, been playing F1 on the PS3 and they are always the worst, drivers.
the drama continues... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

They were going to pay me 1600 after the excess... Its not really worth that now.
I was kind of relying on a payout of some sort from this whole fuckup, so i dunno what to do now... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

Well as you have already started a claim. You will have to update them that the bike has been recovered.
If not and they contact the police, or the police advise the ins co.
Then you are really up shit creak without a paddle......
Either way now you are going to get loaded for the next few years. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

I suppose that is insurance fraud not informing anyone and just selling it... darn...
I was going to speak to insurers tomorrow anyway regarding the other issue so i guess i will tell them tomorrow, and sleep on if i should continue with the claim process from these cowboys.
For a moment when the policelady on the phone said they had found it i thought it might be a runner, i was ready to grab my lid and go...
EDIT: I had a massive 500 pound excess, cheap policy of about 220 quid though, i guess you pays your monies and takes your chances... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

Back wheel to a solid object, albeit with a crappy chain.
Yeah i figured it would have been in pieces for parts, but the little spanish bastards obveously wanted to show off round london on an r1, they managed about 3 weeks before stacking it... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

Shows how shit some po po actually are "My R1 has been stolen" ok sir thanks we'll do our best, R1 cruising round london... foreign plates.. I'd be on the ball and pull em over...
Maybe because its a biker thing to do, if my bike went walkies its got orange friggin wheels and a green seat.. they would see it a mile off!
Surely an R1 with specific colours/parts would be picked up instantly in lovely old london!
I also think you have balls of steel if you are leaving there overnight To be fair, you cant really lose any more can you.. |

Are the people that stole the bike really Spanish or do you just think that because it had a Spanish plate taped on.
I would have thought they taped the foreign plate on in the hope the police couldn't check it so easily on their database compared to a UK plate. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

More evidence that ANPR only catches out the law abiding. I was joking with some workmates that it would be a lot easier and cheaper these days to just pay a scrote to nick a vehicle to order and slap a fake plate on it, and I had one of those "Hmm, many a true word is spoken in jest" moments.
Well, I'm glad you got it back, and sorry that you're shagged now whatever you do. That's a tough call, but you can't really expect them to buy it off you now you've recovered it. I mean, unless it goes missing again overnight. If you know what I mean.
Might as well leave the fake plate on it, even, it clearly makes you invisible to The Man.
Am I joking? I'm genuinely not sure. Why should we be paying for the pikeys and insurers to live it up? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yes its too far to push it home its about 30 mins away by bicycle, I just went back and moved it out of sight and off the road so i wont get a parking ticket first thing tomorrow morning.
Ill speak with the insurers tomorrow
I hope third party fire and theft covers the stealing it, trashing it and it being found in a crappy condition... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

Of course the mate with a van will be charging £120 for recovery plus £15 per day storage until insurance decide to pull their finger out.
Should help with the payout and speed of process ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? The fact the bike was found makes no diference to the insurance claim if you don't want it to.
If you want to go ahead as planned, tell them it was found but it's in worst state than you could have predicted and you will proceed as planned.
They are there as agents for you, make them work for the fuckin' premium. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

Any accessories, which you may not have not told you insurance company can be removed, but dont remove essential parts or you might get a telling off.
As for getting a van to pick it up, just sign it over to your insurance company, tell them were it is and that its now there problem to collect the bike.
