Here's one I don't understand. Why do I need authorisation to prove I'm over 18 if I'm buying alcohol-free beer? There's no alcohol in it, so why do I need to prove my age? It's NOT an alcoholic beverage.

I await the barrage of "pussy" insults for even mentioning this abomination, but I like beer because of the taste, I don't always need the intoxication, especially on a school night, the night before an early start or a ride. San Miguel 0,0 and Becks Blue are especially nice.

Suspect their system works on a layout basis (Rather than product by product). So if your alcohol free beer is on the same layout as normal beer (which it usually is) it'll get flagged.

It will be wine o'clock about 9pm. That certainly won't be alcohol free...

Heh how come buying Cocacola doesn't need an age check? I vaguely recall that the uber super secret formula was released and it contained alcohol.

Semi found the answer:

Quote:
No alcohol or alcohol-free: not more than 0.05% ABV
Dealcoholised: over 0.05% but less than 0.5% ABV
Low-alcohol: not more than 1.2% ABV

So it still contains a trace amount. In theory you could drink say 20 pints of the stuff and it'd be equal to drinking urine*

*American Budweiser.

So does mouthwash and shandy, neither require ID!

Again, it's placed on the soft drinks layout and thus wouldn't be set up on their system to trigger an age check.

The Beer, Wines, Spirits layouts will trigger said age check. Thumbs Up

You need to be over 16 to buy things like knives. So in many supermarkets you need autherisation to buy any kitechen item!

18 Wink

A lot of shops are saying you have to be over 21 nowadays. Quite annoying for people like me who don't want to go stabbing people but would like to cut an onion up rather than hack it with a spoon.
