On some bikes, you have to remove the clutch casing to get at the lever and nipple, you may have to do this.
Good luck with it.

Hi

Official way is to remove the clutch cover, as mentioned above. Which is a pain in the bum. However it can be done without doing this.

Take off the n/s fairing panel so you have plenty of space.

Disconnect the cable at the lever end.

In the clutch cover there are 2 plastic plugs. Unscrew and remove these (a small coin is ideal to use to unscrew these).

You will hopefully see the clutch arm through the plug towards the edge of the cover. Pull the cable outer from the cover (there are a couple of O rings to seal it, so it will take a bit of force).

You should then have enough free play in the inner cable to push it into the casing a bit and unhook it from the clutch arm.

Once the inner is unhooked you should be able to just pull the entire cable out of the clutch casing.

That's the easy bit.

With the new cable routed from the clutch casing up towards the bars, pull the inner to give you as much cable to play with as possible. The cable probably has a gentle curve in it.

Put the inner cable into the clutch cover. You should see it through the hole for the plastic plug. The idea now is to rotate the cable so it is against the arm, and once there pull it gently out to catch on the hook on the end of the arm.

Once you have done that (if you are luck, first attempt, if you are unlucky you will still be trying half an hour later), keep the inner cable under tension (you don't want it to unhook again), push the outer cable into place in the clutch cover. Then connect up at the lever.

After that adjust the clutch (centre of the clutch cover), replace the plugs and fairing and adjust the cable at the lever.

All the best

Keith
