Does anyone else find they're physically tired after riding?

No.

My arse might ache after a long (>2 hours) ride but I'm not tired.

Which part of you gets tired?

Upper body; however, I feel knackered overall and need a nap when I get to my destination (for rides of 30minutes +). Could it be because of I'm not used to the sports riding position on my bike?

actually, I'm more tired after when riding with a full back pack...Need to exercise again methinks. Sissy.

My SP1 used to be hugely tiring to ride, a 2 or 3 hour ride with mates and I'd be out cold as soon as I got home and sat down. That thing was as draining mentally as it was physically though.

i used to spend all day on the SP-1 with no issues apart from numb hands, numb arse and an empty wallet. My job is very physical though so riding is relaxing for me.

Maybe your doing it wrong Laughing

Probs just the fact you are overly concentrating as its a new bike and you are still new to it.

Give it time Thumbs Up

Stop pedalling and get one with an engine!

Lots of filtering wears me out. I have to be sat in a wicker chair with a tartan rug over my lap and given a warm milky drink afterwards.

Only after filtering in a lot of heavy traffic.
I notice my shoulders get tense and my neck starts to twinge up.

I went to a physio about my neck ages ago anyway, so quite often when I get a chance, I'll sit at a red traffic light doing neck hyperextension exercises Laughing

Perhaps I should ditch the pedals and use the throttle for a change Razz

On a serious note, if some of you are maintaining that you feel the fatigue after filtering, then that would make a lot of sense to me because 90% of the time when I ride I am filtering, and so get achey around the shoulders, neck, biceps and triceps, and chest.

I guess you are correct - it's a new machine and I need to get used to it Smile

Aint riding great Wink

Depends on the bike and style of riding.
Wind, suspension, riding position, traffic conditions and the gear you wear have a big effect on stamina and fatigue.

Bigger bikes soak up more of the strain I guess.

As compared to riding a big Hunter horse as opposed to riding a Blackpool Beach donkey.

Riding in congested areas is mentally exhausting, being aware of and preventing the numerous vehicles from bringing about my untimely demise does become tiring.

As for aches etc, could well be the position of the bike, if you are getting knackered whilst riding quickly in the countryside then it suggests you are sitting too upright and when pushing the bars are pushing down, rather than in the direction of the plane of the handlebars. Or holding on too tight.

Forearms and wrists shouldn't ache on a sportsbike, your ass and back may well do, you should be supporting your upper body weight using your legs and lower back rathe than your wrists.

I sometimes get hand pain when filtering because I subconciously develop a ninja death grip on the bars, it's not good for me or the bike but I do it habitually and try as I might, can't seem to stop doing it without making a concious decision.

TL:DR - you'll either get used to it or you are doing it wrong Thumbs Up .

It can also mean Too lazy; didn't read. And to be honest, at least in my opinion, if you're browsing a forum and thinking 'tl;dr' then maybe you should stop browsing forums? Not directed at anyone here by the way, just my two cents. I see it quite a lot on the interwebs, and I normally manage to get through even teflon sized posts without too much trouble XD

TL;DR: go visit youtube. This is a forum. Razz

One shouldn't feel obliged to rtte (Read To The End) if the material offered is pish.

After filtering from one side of Brum to the other through standstill traffic my clutch hand ached. A lot. I ached all over after a 5 hour thrash to Aberystwyth and back, apart from that no, not really.

I quite agree, but I'd personally leave it to whoever is reading a thread to decide. If a post bores me I skip it, tldr and all. No offence to the writer of the post, everyone has different taste etc. Whatever floats your boat.

Excuse me for getting off topic too XD On topic though, I had a few bad aches for a couple of days soon after I got my cb500 running. I was riding it a lot, but I'm more used to it now. Probably a combination of feeling more relaxed on it, more comfortable with the controls and the power etc (going from a 125 that is.) Although it's a different riding position so that probably helps with comfort.
