Hi all,

I am collecting my Kawasaki ZX6R on Thursday (very excited) and am now looking for a set of leathers and new helmet to go with it.

I currently wear the following protective gear -
Buffalo protective clothing as below;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290592737497&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:1123#ht_3759wt_1311

LID helmet as below;
https://lidsdirect.co.uk/epages/eshop193014.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/eshop193014/Products/LHGB/SubProducts/LHGB-0004

I plan to use my current helmet for Pillion use and upgrade to a helmet with a drop down sun visor (as I wear glasses).

As I am getting a fancy bike, I'd quite like a set of decent leathers that match the bike. Can anyone offer any advice on a good set of leathers to go for and roughly what I should look at spending on them? Also any advice on helmets would be appreciated!

I tried on some RST Tractech leathers yesterday which I really liked. They do either a one piece or two (jacket and trousers). They were £200 and £160 respectively or £380 for the one piece. Personally waiting for the bike show at the NEC in a couple of weeks to see if there are any discounts to be had.

I wear glasses too and use a Caberg Konda flip up with internal visor, again really pleased with it.

£160 for lid, jacket, trousers and gloves - chances are, most of them (I know from experience that bufallo fit this trend) are/will be shite.

I reckon decent lid and decent leathers (with gloves and boots) no less than say £5/600, yeah you can get cheaper, but why srimp of the life saving parts?

Lid: £100+
Jacket: £150
Trousers: £150
Gloves: £50
boots: £100+

buy black stuff too, goes with any bike and you wont look too much like a power ranger!!

Internal visors are good, but dont rule out other lids if they fit better! You could always get a dark/black visor. Thumbs Up

+1 for Caberg Konda helmet. I have one and its brilliant, its nice that its a flip up helmet too because you can put it on without removing your glasses (i wear them too).

As for the leathers, I am currently wearing an Alpinestars two piece, really comfy and they feel like theyre made well, but they're quite expensive
. The RST Traktech leathers are nice, I ride with a guy who.wears them and they seem nice.

I have a Konda helmet too ! Very good helmet, front flip is very useful, comfortable fit, no complaint from me at all. As for leathers, spend the most you can actually afford, don't skimp if you can help it.

I like the look of the Konda, but it seems like a big, heavy lump of a thing, and I'd read that it's noisy. How are you guys finding that?

Don't have a Konda, but do have a Nolan flip front. This is quite noisy when sat in usual riding position.

But stand up on pegs and get head in clean air and its silent.

So a lot of reports on noisy helmets are more related to how your screen deals with the air, than the actual helmet Thumbs Up

Yeah, it probably could be quieter, but just for going around town on, its perfectly fine. I don't think its much bigger (if at all) than any other helmet, plus the built-in sun visor is an added bonus... you'll probably want to try it on before you buy though.
