hi im new to the forums so bare with me i recently brought a yamaha dtr 125 1993 and ive rode it about a month and it ran like a dream but all of a sudden i started my bike which i had just ridden about a mile or so i revved it while in neautral and it cut out and would not start again i changed the spark plug and it fired up again but the same thing happend. i'm not sure if it keeps flooding but if it is how can i fix it so it dosent keep flooding or can anyone else tell me what it could be. is there any chance it could be a head gasket ? thanks all

I would start with the carb - get yourself a haynes manual, and give the carb a clean / service. It could well be that a bit of crap has got stuck in the float needle, stopping fuel from getting into the float bowl at the correct rate.

If a damn good carb clean/service doesn't sort it, it's probably time to break out the multimeter and check the electrics.

Unlikely to be the head gasket IMO - unless the coolant level has started dropping rapidly.

From memory I think it's a GF fuel tap, and it's just a standard round-slide carb - not CV I don't think.

Saying that, if you have a mate who has taken a carb apart, get him round. If not, take it steady (or maybe take the carb to a local bike mech to be cleaned?).
