basically im just wondering iv just had to replace my exhaust as the old one was rusted to death honda wanted nearly £400 for a genuine honda one and then they found me one of these

https://www.motad.co.uk/vproduct.php?prod=CBR125R+Complete+System+with+a+Road+Legal+Can

if i have this on the bike will i have to tell insurance its on there?
also im quite aware that ill get no kind of power gain from this

Yes you will have to tell them. Shouldn't affect your primium though (pending on ins co) mine didn't.

Every time I have declared an exhaust they have asked me if there are any power gains because of it, I say no, they put it down as a cosmetic mod and the premium is unchanged. it WILL vary by ins company of course, try quotes with and without and decide if it is sizeable enough to be worth the risk.

Even if you don't declare it, it's very unlikely there would be any comeback from it in the event of an accident.

I haven't declared my Motad for the following reasons:

Arrow It doesn't increase power i.e. risk.
Arrow It costs less to replace than an OEM one, so actually their risk is less than what they're covering.
Arrow What am I, a motor mechanic? How would I know that Motad wasn't fitted as stock?
Arrow CBA talking to insuramongs.

I declare everything but usually the mods are non performance enhancing so it doesn't affect the premium, also stops them using an exhaust or non original handlebars as an excuse (if they ever will) if I ever have to claim. But if you are adding bits on don't forget to add it to the total value of your bike when they ask how much its worth..

also for the Venom cans have a look on ebay sometimes they ebay them (Motad) so might be able to get a brand new system cheaper than their own website.

Depends what insurance you have. TPO? I definitely would not declare it. Too much hassle.

TPFT or FC, I'd consider it, but probably still wouldn't.

I have asked Bennetts about exhausts before.
They would not load the policy but I think it is always better to ask if in doubt.
The call costs nowt but any comeback may be severe. Though unlikely.
And.... if some edjit you speak to says, 'your policy will be loaded.'
Do not accept that but call back and ask for a supervisor. (Be polite though.)

But don't say you have it when you phone initially. Say you are thinking about it.

Never mess with insurance details - I declared mine with eBike and it was a no-cost change.
