Part of your "pre-ride inspection" is to check your fuel level...this involves you opening up the cap and looking into the tank...it might then be an idea to reset your trip-counter so that you can keep an eye on how far you have travelled...

The fuel gauge is really a unnecessary luxury for an NSR (and many other bikes in fact), especially as the tank is right in front of you!...

Every time i fill the tank i re-set the trip then i know that when i get to around 80miles+ to think about fuelling up again.
then again i have never switched it to reserve.

My Nsr would do about 140 miles before running out, I used the trip and filled up at about 120.... until the speedo cable broke.

Quite possibly, I've done that far too many times... though it broke while I was riding... then just to tkae the piss I came off and generally knackered the bike a bit more :x

if you have digtel speedo!! (like me) you can turn it on but not the engine and the levels of the fuel will go up and then you can see when you have reached the top!! easy
