Just got 7 letters off MCE all dated 10th of november Confused . Policy details at the top then they say :
"We are writing to you with regard to the above policy.
Please can you contact the above office at your earliest convenience as there is a matter we need to discuss with you.
We look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times."
I did think policy renewal when i saw an mce envelope in the post. But that's not due until January.
Not sure what office they want me to contact as the only phone number above is a header saying "In the event of a claim please call 0871 222 7910". Could it be something to do with my crash? Would the police have notified them of my accident?

I got one of them letters too. They wanted an extra £56 ontop of the £176 renewal already paid last month for the GSX.

They said it was due to the 2 none fault and very minor claims in the work van this year. They didn't have an answer to my response of how do accidents which are not my fault cause my premium to go up? How does it make me more of a risk? I wasn't even in the van when one claim happened (someone drove into it when it was parked legally).

MCE are a bunch of cowboys, regularly the cheapest around, but pray you dont have to deal with them and their premium rate numbers.

I would email them saying you have received the letters and giving times for them to contact you.

I have spent hours on hold to them trying to resolve various issues...

How does this work - im concerned about this as this has just happened to me. Never ever had a claim until last year when someone drove into our car - I wasnt even driving or even in the car, my mrs who is named driver was driving and was 100% not at fault. The claim was settled as 100% non fault , but due to having to declare being "involved in any claims or accidents" it puts my insurance up on both car and bike. This majorly pissed me off,

now a few days ago someone hit my works van which was parked on the front. I wasnt in it at the time, just heard the alarm going off - and nobody was in the car that hit it, they had left handbrake off and the car rolled into my van. Im not a policy holder as such as its works van and works insurance - but am i now going to be down on the database as being involved in an accident????

Your insurers claim that you're parking your vehicle in high risk areas, which makes you a higher risk to insure. I think it's outrageous. Happened to me too when a construction fence fell on my car, my car was parked adjacent to about 20 other vehicles in a marked car park but it just so happens that the section of fence which gave way first was right in front of my vehicle.

100% non-fault and it put my premiums up by over £200.

No way would I deal with an insurer over the phone unless it was at my behest, urgent and to my benefit. If they want to ask you something, invite them to ask in writing or sling their hooks.

I took out a policy with them for £860 FC on the ninja in July 2011. Not had a reason to ring them up thank god but I do dread the day I need them to do something for me from all the threads you see on here about them.

They were hundreds cheaper than anyone else as I have a ban declared and a power commander (£90 extra).

The other day I received a phone call from MCE, first time they rang me and he was trying to sell me access to Club MCE. He said it was worth £150 and he would do me a special price of £75. I said I wasn't interested and he quickly told me as a one off he could do it for £37. I was intrigued by the huge price drop within a few seconds so asked him if he could do it for £30 and he said he couldn't. I asked him to ask his manager... que on hold for a few mins... he comes back to me and I kid you not, says, "I've just had a word with my manager and it's good news, we can do it for £30...." I started to say, "Excellent new..." and he butts in, "... but there is a £7 admin charge". errrrrr.... yeah I'll take it, what a discount!

Just because someone is not at fault doesn't mean they couldn't have avoided the accident somehow, for example by more cautious riding or by parking in less risky locations.

Not saying this was the case for your accidents, but in general, someone who has one claim is more likely to claim again than someone who doesn't.

MCE also flog details of previous incidents that you declare (whilst simply asking for a quote!) to 'claims management' companies. It is for that reason that I will never insure another vehicle with them.

Maybe to see if you'd been banned before you stacked it into Farmer Barleymow's gate?

How they'd tell that from another copy of your license is beyond me though - you could just send them the exact same copy as before. They'd need to check with the DVLA for correct up to date details (nobody laugh).

tl;dr version - they're just muppets.

I said this before in an MCE insurance rant/thread.

They are cheap.

I have two machines insured through MCE.
I agree I have had issues with their blatant incompetence but on the whole, they have provided what I need to enable me to ride two bikes.

They are shite at forms and documents so KEEP records of any correspondence/contact with them for your own evidence.

HUNDREDS cheaper than the other robbing cunts.

HUNDREDS

Agreed, they are £100's cheaper than anyone else and it would of cost me over £1200 with the next cheapest insurer if I hadn't gone with MCE.

Uh, well maybe if he hadn't invalidated his insurance by riding unrestricted they wouldn't be looking to not pay out?

I rode unrestricted for two years, knowing that if I crashed it could cost a fucktonne.

Imagine crashing into a young single mother and putting her in a wheelchair. Not only would your insurance have to pay for her injuries, loss of earnings for the rest of her life AND for the loss of use of her legs, ALSO for the childcare of her kid and the special help.

Or even a bog standard crash where someone tries it on with whiplash. 1k car, 5k injuries 1k legal fees. Insurers will pay out, but sure as hell claim it back from you.

Probably have to lert the courts decide as if you have no assets then no win.
Gaol would work though.
Then the tax payer will foot the bill.

Now where did I leave that raggedy-arsed length of Tree Rope?
