The police are coming to kick your door in.

You just need to book the MOT before you ride there. You're allowed to ride with no MOT provided it's to the site of a pre-booked MOT.

As an aside, I've just had one of my vans MOT'd and the testing station gave me a gadget that flashes (or beeps?) a month before the current MOT expires and counts down to day zero. I now have less chance of forgetting to have them tested on time.

Last year I couldn't get mine done for a month because of a knee, injury couldn't ride it.
Bear in mind insurance is invalid if no MOT - so riding it would be *unwise*- otherwise nothing much happens.
There are plenty of good reasons you might not be able to get an MOT done on time.

LOL! Wrong. Some insurers will invalidate one's policy if there is no MoT. Confirmation can be found on the Direct.gov website.

Just because some insurer's require it for continued cover, doesn't make it a rule.

Some insurance companies, if not all, state the vehicle must be road worthy. e
Even with an MOT you can still be on bald tyres, non working lights, slack suspension bushes & faulty brakes just to mention a few possible problems that will occur in the years life of an MOT..

I always thought this

Under FSA rules an insurer cannot reject a claim on grounds of breach of warranty or condition unless the breach caused or contributed to the accident. Thus the only circumstances in which an insurer could reject a claim on grounds of breach of a roadworthiness condition are if the insured vehicle was unroadworthy and the unroadworthiness caused or contributed to the claim. As an MOT proves nothing other than the vehicle was roadworthy at the time and date of the test, any condition which purports to exclude claims on grounds of lack of valid MOT is unenforceable.

Insurers will pay out the third party claims as they have to but they might think twice about paying out the own damage aspect.

You could end up castrated in Wuntanamera Bay for that....

The worst is a scammera snaps you.

It can get you for tax not sure about MoT test. But both records are/should be held in some Sentral Cumpootur the DVLA operate.

Insurance companies will try and wriggle out of paying out if there is no MOT, but you will still be covered third party which is the minimum requirement.

That reminds me, the car needs doing.
