I can't express the sheer frustration of not being able to park one's bike because the 'solo motorcycle' bays are suspended due to road-works Mad

So, what are we supposed to do? There is no alternative parking bays set up for us, even though the council have inconvenienced us out of our parking bays... 4ucking ridiculous!

Rant over.

Thank you Embarassed

FTFY.

In the time it took to rant that, you could have contacted the council's parking department and got their opinion on it. More meat for a better rant!

Use of plurals.

"There is no alternative parking bays set up for us,"

Should read: 'There ARE no alternative parking bays for us,'

I hope this helps.

Move to France, they park on the path there.
Just bump up the nearest low kerb, weave around the shoppers & park outside the shop you want, at tick over speed no one is bothered or gives you a second look.
In Belgium the old peddle type mopeds on paths are more common than disability scooters here.

Thank you smartie pants.

Whils we're on the subject of correcting one's English:

"should of", "would of", "could of" are incorrect.

It's:

" should HAVE", "would HAVE", "could HAVE".

I have noticed these common mistakes in these forums; however, felt it was not my place to comment. Nevertheless, given you have had the audacity to nit-pick rather than address the purpose of this post, I felt I might as well jump in.

I will contact the council - good idea Smile

In my town, then closed the largest bike park for over a year, while they dicked about with some monument.

Then when they opened it, they permanently closed two nearby bike parks.

Now every month the main bike park is closed due to precession, carnivals or anything else.

Can you not just park in a car space? Around here the council prefers you to park in the bike bays, but you don't have to if they're full.

Same here, Don't think there is any bike specific parking bits in Dumfries to be honest...

The car parks you gotta display a parking disc for too don't bother me when I don't have one. Although I'm not sure its a requirement on a bike, asked in the police station across the road from it and they didn't know if I needed one, Mind you they also said its nowt to do with them it's the councils car park.... O.o

Off-topic a bit there but yeah, Use a normal car park bay Smile

I'm in London, and the councils apply car parking restrictions to bikes if parked in car bays...

So by riding a bike your helping the council by having less congestion and traffic etc.... yet they wont let you park in a "Car" park which could fit 2 Motorcycles?
Does not add up does it...

As I know fully and well enough from personal experience with the tossers who run West Minster Parking zone.
I got stung for 40 big ones for 15mins over.
I would have chinned the dude in the hi-viz who put the ticket on if I could have found him/her/it.
