I booked tomorrow off to run a scout camp, booked it off in march with my now sacked manager.

Head office have no record of it and therefore say I can't have it off.

This means 12 kids don't go away this weekend and the troop looses £500 on camp fee's.

Do i take it off anyway and risk the sack or let 12 kids down at the last minute?

Haven't you got someone in power you can explain the situation too? I have a couple of managers that would both let me have tomorrow off for a lot weaker reasons than that.

You need to find the diary or holiday rota that was used. Otherwise explain the situation to your current manager. He/she can't be that much of a dick. If not go over your boss's head.

Sorry to hear that you work for such nobbers.

When exactly did you ask (again)?

You must give at least twice as much time as you're asking for in notice.

As in, if you want Friday off, ask on Tuesday afternoon at the latest.

When exactly did they say no?

They must refuse at least as far ahead as you're asking for.

As in, you want all of Friday, they must give refuse at least 1 full working day ahead. In practice, I'd argue that means Wednesday last thing, not Thursday first thing, since by the time you receive a Thursday morning refusal, you've got less than 1 full working day to change your plans.

I asked back in march.

I was told by my then line manager that I had to go through him and not direct to head office.

He didn't book it so it seems as I was told today there was no record of it therefore I couldn't have it off.

He was made redundant/sacked in August.

After pleading my case and pointing out about the poor children I have tomorrow off but loose a days pay.

I repeat: what a bunch of utter bell ends. It's obviously not about you taking the time off, they're just making it clear who's in charge.

Well, it could be worse, you get to Scout for boys, and get a paid day some other time.

If it's any consolation, I'm on a day off today which I booked at very short notice.

I've spent the day smoking weed, playing computer games, drinking cider, viewing porn and generally enjoying some quality 'me' time. I'm now trying to decide whether to order a delivery from either Domino's or from the Chinese takeaway.

As above.

I phoned up this morning to take today off. I was productive though.

I discovered that if your friend fires up his WR200 without doing up the pressure plate bolts, bad stuff happens, and bits break.

I found out that WR200 clutches can become many pieces in an engine.

I invented a way of undoing the centre nut without using an impact gun or special tool using a drill and 3 bolts.

I found out a DT125R clutch fits if you replace the primary drive gear with a DT125R one.

All in preparation for Hare and Hounds this weekend Cool

I was also off today, but managed to shatter the tip of my finger by dropping a 3' stillson on it.

Which was nice...
