Been looking for similar myself and the thing that has stood out the most has been the Suzuki dr 350. Can't say anything on them though...

Japanese import versions of the XR250 have electric start. Proper (enduro model) XR250s are kickstart only.

Later versions of the Yamaha XT225 Serow come with electric and kickstart as well as a low seat height.

A good serow is a well sought-after bike and prices were pretty high when I was looking for one last year. UK xr's are kickstart only but you can get a leccy start conversion kit if you fancy spending £700 on one or pick up a Jap import.

You might be able to pick up a DRZ400 for around a grand if you look hard enough? Failing that, KTM perhaps?

My brother bought himself a DR350SE that has electric start as standard. It was okay as long as you did not stall it (or drown it in a Welsh river Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes ).The CV carb was a PITA as it seemed to have a mind of its own.

A friend has recently sold her Honda XR250L.This Jap market grey import was an ideal bike for her, being a bit short in the leg.She got the asking price of £1050 and the new owner is pleased with it.
