Just reading an article, and it poses the question "can you run 10 miles?" I can't. I'd be fucked after half a mile, tops. I break into a sweat putting my socks on.
So BCF, simple question, can you?
[edit] By run I mean anything from a jog upwards, so say 10 minutes per mile at least. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Depends on what you mean by "run".
Could I sprint 10 miles? No.
Could I run ten miles at a reasonable pace? No.
Could I jog it? ...No.
OK guess it didn't matter too much what you meant. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

I walk quite a lot (walking the dogs, or the occasional 5 mile walk to and from work), but no running for Dazbo for some years... unless it's the last 20 yards running to catch a bus ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

I reckon I probably could, I used to do 6 miles every other evening when I was on a bit of a get fit mission. I don't run now but still cycle and walk a fair bit.
I found that I'd always start running at too fast a pace then get knackered, but once I found the right pace I could just settle into a rhythm and plod on. Once I got into a rhythm it wouldn't really matter if it was 2 miles or 12 miles I'm sort of on autopilot.
I probably wouldn't be doing much for the rest of the day though. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

Run 10 miles? Nope. I probably couldnt even walk 10 miles. I get knackered walking the 50 meters to the bike! ____________________ illuminateTHEmind wrote: I am just more evolved than most of you guys... this allows me to pick of things quickly which would have normally taken the common man years to master

Hmmm? different types of fitness.
I know that if I tried to jog/run 10 miles these days , I`d end up in a heap
But I know that I could make quick progress/walk for hours & hours on end ie 8-10 hours carrying a pack not a problem.
I`ve swam 5 miles in in go and it was`nt a problem (no not in a swimming pool where you can put your feet down).
But ask me to compete in a swimming race and I`d be fooked . ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Erm, no. Mainly for boredom if nothing else. I find running so bastard tedious that I can only handle jog/sprint/jog/sprint/walk/jog... kind of 'runs'.
Even at my recent 'peak' I was fairly shagged after about 3 miles running, I'm really not built for running distance. Great at sprinting though. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Whyt would I want to run 10 miles......
When I have a good bike and car that will both do it with far less effort on my part. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Depends who's chasing you
Quote: | A man was ordered by his doctor to lose 75 lbs. due to very serious Health risks. As he wondered how in the heck he would ever do it, he ran across an ad in the newspaper for a GUARANTEED WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM. "Guaranteed. Yeah right!" he thought to himself. But desperate, he calls them up and subscribes to the 3-day/10 pound weight loss program.
The next day there's a knock at his door, and when he answers, there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old young lady dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign round her neck. She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me!" Without a second thought he takes off after her. A few miles later, Huffing and puffing, he finally catches her and has his way with her.
After they are through and she leaves, he thinks to himself, "I like the way this company does business!" The same girl shows up for the next two days and the same thing happens. On the fourth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10lb. as promsed.
He calls the company and orders their 5-day/ 20 pound program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life, wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me, you can have me." He's out the door or after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and it takes him a while to catch her, but when he does, it is worth every cramp and wheeze. For the next four days, the same routine happens. Much to his delight, on the fifth day, he weighs himself and found he has lost another 20 lbs.as promised.
He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50
Pound program. "Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program." Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years". The next day there's a knock at the door and when he opens it he finds a muscular guy standing here wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, "If I catch you, you're mine." |

Maybe just. I can do about 6-7, but it knackers my knees big time, and I hate jogging/running.

Nope. I can't run, not since I got my leg/foot/ankle crushed in my crash 13years ago. Apart from the bits of exercise I get from walking/hiking (on occasion) and supermarket shopping I do with clients at work, I barely do anything.
But, I am still slim. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |
