Has anyone ever found a good place for buying Arai helmets at a wonderful price? I was in trying on lots of helmets today and I did like Arai, but I didn't like the price Confused I was wondering if anyone had ever found any good places to look for deals (I've tried ebay Smile )

Totally agree with Craig. I tend to wait until the shows when they knock out the end of line paint jobs at more realistic prices. I'm on my third Arai now and i've bought them all cheap at shows Thumbs Up

What sort of price is cheap out of interest? The ones I was looking at today all seemed to be in the £300-ish price range....

Anyone know of any such bike shows in Scotland in the Autumn? Or is this something the English have a monopoly on Wink

Have a butchers here: https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/sitepages/specials_helm.htm

They have one Arai RV reduced, but it seems they may be in drab colours, maybe worth giving your local store a ring or if there too far away then they do mail order Smile.

Or come down to the NEC in november, you know you want to Razz.

Yeh, i went JSaccessories with Claud and 89CBR Chris and Supermoto Bob after the rally today and some arai's can be had for dirt cheap - Astro J's for 260?-Roberts rep, hmm very tempting, Corsairs for 399? Okada's and edwards reps. OR if you still want a Quantum F - the Haga replica was 245... This was at the store in Watford. AGV ti-tech for 100 quid off. This place REALLY is cheap!

sounds like I'm going to have to get myself to J+S then! (not wildly keen on the plain colour ones they have on their site - the helmet I have right now is plain red and I'd quite like something a bit more interesting now, hopefully they'll have more to choose from at their shop)

MCS in Renfrew were doing Quantum F lids for £190 a while back. I could have a look next weekend and let you know if they are still doing them, if you like.

Have you tried Hein Gericke? I got my Arai RV for £160 there, a couple of week ago. Ok, so it's only a tenner less than the J&S website, but it all adds up...

The Nottingham HG had only black or white ones.

On a slighty related/unrelated note:

If you like the Arai's fit have you tried the top end Shoei's?

The XR1000 and the X-Spirit are easliy as good as the Arai's and you have a much better visor system, and generally a quieter and lighter lid.

Personally I would not buy a Arai again because of the visor system, as it nearly cost me half a trackday, and they appear to be very sensitive to what you clean them with.

I've always had Arai's and never had any problems with the visor system, why would you want to go cleaning them? Wink

Problem with Shoei's and Arai's is that they tend to be for completely different head shapes. If one or the other fits you properly then the other usually won't.

I did try a Shoei, it didn't fit very well really. The Shark and Arai helmets were the only one which seemed to fit properly (one way to reduce the selection I can choose from!)

argh I've found the one I want.. the right colour and everything. And it's even discounted. But Arai helmets are more than I originally wanted to pay, I was hoping for around £100 and this one is £200, which is cheap for an Arai but expensive for me!

Sometimes the internet can be a bad thing Shocked

I think I'll call J+S tomorrow morning and see if they happen to have that one in stock. It is a quantum f I think.

Problem is... and I'll say this very quietly... this Arai helmet goes very well with my bike and my leathers.

No I'm not tarty, honest... oh who am I trying to kid. I want everything to match. But whether it's worth more money I don't know! it's either Arai or Shark - as far as helmets go generally, how do I choose between them? Is Arai definitely better?
