How do people just sit on their arses scrounging whatever benefits they can get?
I've been off work for 6 weeks give or take n it's driving me bonkers. Nothing on TV and even tinterwebs can't keep you amused all day. Hopefully in 9 days i'll be able to get working again. Won't be doing a lot but it'll beat sitting on my arse all day.

Wotcha.

Try sitting on your arse all day when you are forced to do it due to some careless driver almost taking your leg off. Not much fun, trust me on this.

When I say "sitting on my arse all day" this is a bit of a lie. Due to the amount of Titanium in my pelvis I can only bear to sit on my arse for about an hour at a time Mr. Green

Some people never grow up and essentially want to be looked after all their lives. They tend to end up in prison and/or bleating to some case worker that they don't have enough money, baaaa, isn't there something else that they could claim, baaaaaaah.

You could turn to cheap beer (remember reading some guy did 20 pints a day on benifits) Laughing
I work part time as a single mum. But constantly pulling overtime because I do get bored. Thankfully I do still live at home Embarassed But gives me the chance to work more, provide more and basically be a better mum to my son.

I really dont see how some mums can live off basic benifits. Id go bit mad & I meet these 'scroungers' on a daily basis... I just couldnt do it.

Broke my ankle a few years back, spent 2 months doing near nothing, especially the first month. I was going out my tree, was so glad to get back to work once the cast was off.

I've even started doing stuff round the house... That normally gets left to mother lol.
In other news I made a claim for employment and support allowance when i got out of hospital, thinking it's keep me in fags n pay my rent for me. It's 9 days till i can work again and i've still not got it. Good job i've got a good mother to keep me in fags and doesn't mind me being late with the rent. Might as well get something out of the government even if it does take an age lol after all it's what i pay my taxes for.

Smoking may kill me. I could also go outside and get struck by a bolt of lightening. There was a bloke in the hospital, bed next to me. He reckoned he's smoked 40 a day since he was 20, made it to 92 and still going strong.

Was unemployed for about 7 months a while ago. It was very boring, I simply wrote random things all day and spent a lot of time hoovering up every single book at the library.

I didn't half read a lot of trash. Girlie novels where women do something terrible and spend the rest of the novel forgiving themselves and blaming the man for it. Even when it was not his fault. A particularly horrible one was a WG called Chaing or something. She gets married yet still sleeps around for money yet blames HIM for this...

Meh...

TBH I'm not much looking forward to 2012 as I'll be unemployed for a bit for sure.

Really? I broke my ankle 2 years back now (snowboarding) and had a grand total of 3 days off work - although admittedly being self employed and thus no sick pay prob had something to do with it...I was a pretty bad patient actually, people were offering to do stuff for me and give me lifts places but I refused and struggled on crutches. As soon as the cast was off I was walking everywhere and within 2 weeks of it I was on skis again (although in retrospect this prob wasn't the greatest of moves as my general fitness had plummeted in the meantime!).

Can sympathise with the OP though - I'm not the sort of person who wakes up every day screaming with joy at the prospect of working, but if I have some time off where I've got nothing planned then I'm bored on day 5. I really don't envy anyone on benefits - some folk sneer and say they have an easy life, but I don't think I could do it personally.

I've had no work for six weeks now, and I'm beginning to wonder how I ever had time to actually go out to work.
The loft's been cleaned out, racking put up.
Garage more or less sorted.
Stripped papered and painted hallway staircase and landing.
Bathroom redecorated.
Kitchen painted.
Study papered and painted, shelves sorted out.
New carpets laid.
Garden sorted, built benches for greenhouse.
Shed organised, new shelves, racking.

Still got a bloody list as long as my arm.
Got to start on living room and dining room Monday morning.
Got to sort my old MGB out and shift it so I can get my tyre machine and compressor installed, (cheapo bike tyres fitted and balanced in Bradford when it's up and running).

I was unemployed for 2 years, couldn't claim benefits because the wife's part time job brought in more than the threshold allowed. We worked out that if she was unemployed too, we'd jointly get more than her pay brought in - go figure.

I was never bored though. My guitar playing improved greatly.

Love working, love doing overtime on weekdays. Was unemployed for a few months after graduating uni and it drove me nuts.
I am considered one of the laziest of my friends though, since I only do between 40-55 hours per week, some clock up well over 80 and have maybe one day off every fortnight. I just hate giving up my weekends of sitting on my arse and going out getting pished.

In my last job as a dental nurse (actually not a terrible job, just not challenging enough for me) I would regularly have my piss boiled by some scrounging, unemployed cunt moaning about the dental treatment they got for FREE from MY tax money. Wankshafts.

I was out of work for 12 months a couple of years back and it was awful!
I can only speak about what I personally saw, ie the benefits office where I had to go every two weeks to sign for job-seeker allowance was full of the worst scummy people in the world Sad .
Low lifes who did`nt want a job , just benefits to get more cheap beer Evil or Very Mad
I felt that if I remained in that type of environment , I would get dragged down to thier level.
My solution was to tell the condescending twats that were my "case worker" to shove thier benefits up thier arse.

This forced me to take work where-ever I could get it, ie 1 days labouring if it was available
It also forced me to be a bit more keen in seeking out work.

Not everybody who`s unemployed is a scummer but if you was ever in need of a scummer you know exactly where to look for one.
That and the poor service provided by the Job Center make being unemployed one hell of a shitty place to be.

I feel for anyone who has one ounce of savvy and dignity if they are unemployed.
I took a "Claim only" assessor`s job , meaning I only get paid for the hours I work & no sick pay, although I now get pro-rata holiday pay.
If the college dont have the students, I dont get the work=less hours Crying or Very sad , but it is still better than being unemployed I think?

I have been unemployed for 3 months. Start a new job on the 5th. Very glad.

I am bored of being bored. I am bored of having no money and I am bored of other people talking down to me because I have no job.

I don't mind it too much but being unemployed for a long period of time would be hell.

Bit of a biased survey that. Anyone that smoking *has* killed is dead and can't answer your "did 40 a day for decades kill you" questionnaire. It's a bit like standing outside Paddy Power asking people who come out whether they gamble.

Hardly a survey, he's just pointing out that smoking heavily doesnt mean you definatly will die early, as a lot of people seem to forget....

I'm not trying to claim it will. I'm not really pro or anti-smoking to be honest. If you're prepared to finance your own cancer treatment you can spend your evenings x-raying your own crotch as far as I'm concerned.

What *does* grind my gears is bad use of statistics. "We surveyed 1000 people and asked them if they had ever died in a car crash; none had." &c.

Although I couldnt sit on my arse all day, I have decided if I lose my current job or get to a point in 5 years time when I have a few things done, I intend to step out of the usual working world and not go back.

Ive worked my bullocks off and given it my all to 3 companies, all have shat on me, everyone I know thats worked hard has been shat on, and yet everyone carries on like little worker ants. I don't want that for the est of my life. By 2016 I want to be out of that world and doing my own thing.
