 |
|
Well, I have been given a new project for the winter - a 1988 Honda NTV 600 Revere in white.
At the moment she has no battery or fuel pump. The battery is because she has been stood for about 2 years, and the fuel pump is the reason why it has been stood for so long.
I have got a battery and pump on order, so the plan is to get her running, and sort out any issues there, then start stripping her down to clean/paint/powdercoat etc as necessary.
Hopefully by the end of the spring I should have her back to something like her former glory, and I will hopefully have finished my DAS, and will be able to hop on the finished article, and go for a spin
I will update as I go, but the likelihood is that this will be a fairly slow process due to long work hours, and the cold wether coming.
Anyway, here are some picture as she stands at the moment. any advice/hints/tips will be more than welcome

OK, just a minor update today. The fuel pump arrived, and the battery has charged, so i put it all back together, and voila! she's a runner!
I also changed the tyre valve for the front tyre, and that looks pretty good, but the rear tyre has seen better days i think. It has one repair already, and there is a screw in another part Oh well, i'll bang a new tyre on before the MOT
Next up is a full fluid change and service, then some cosmetic tarting up over winter. more pics to follow soon
cheers for reading,

Well, I have been offered some garage/working space in return for some lighting and plumbing work for a friend
I finished the lighting and plumbing jobs at my friends house by 3pm, and then got cracking with the revere.
The collector and silencer are relatively sound, but the area where the front downpipe enters the collector is a bit ropey, but not beyond saving. The rest of it will be a clean up and paint with HT black on the collector, and a polish up on the chrome bits.
The rear down pipe is fine, but needs a clean up. The front however, is a different story. The collar that clamps the downpipe to the head has all but rusted away to nothing. can you buy these seperately?? Or i suppose I could see a fabrication company to get one made up?
The rear wheel is off, the rear 'arch' is off, and the rear lights have been removed.
It is quite nice to work on a bike, as i have been a car nut my entire life, everything is so much more accessible......
So, the plan so far is to strip back the frame as much as I can without too much hassle, clean and paint it. Then clean, prep and paint the panels.
Not too sure on colour yet. The frame will remain silver, the wheels will stay the same colour I think. All of the chrome will stay. And the bodywork, well, i'm torn between gloss black, matt black, and gunmetal grey. Any opinions are welcome
Anyway, enough talk, here come the pics

The collector box on my Bros looked a similar way when I got it. Now it has a few small holes. Was a good excuse to buy a Yoshimura pipe when it came up on ebay
P.s. No you can't have it ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed
