GS500F, is in my opinion too expensive for just having passed, that is just my opinion though, but that is the reason I went for a GS500E (10 years old) with a full fairing, that looks better than the 500F fairing, again just in my opinion.
But as bikes go, they are tough/lasting bikes that will do you well as a first "full licencse" bike. ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

Do be aware with older GS500's chassis rot is a problem, the paint is thin and can scratch easily and chrome is thin and pits easily.
With the newer GS500, they seem alittle better put together better and finished better too.
Oh and I still think it resembles the GSXR Range IMHO.
https://www.ama-cycle.org/news/2003/images/GS500F.jpg
The engine also differs slightly from the unfaired version as it has SACS, basically an oil cooler to stop the engine from overheating in all that plastic.
I personally wouldn't mind a GS500F, and I would have owned one if the finance wasn't denied in may .
There is a thread here from when the GS500F was first released in the UK: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=22475&highlight= |

This is my first post and I thought i would leave some good feelings about the susuki GS500 models.
I just recently purchased a susuki gs500e a 1991 to be exact. it had 12,000 miles on it and came with a jet kit, and vance & hines exhaust. The original owner had shorted the rear turning singnals in the rear and the seemed to be smoked . the front were shortend as well but looked ugly in my openion so i put some smaller clear ones on.
The bike is wonderfull. and has enough power to get around town with a smile on your face. now your not gonna pop any wheelies with it but still its fast enough and fun. the gs500F has the same engine as the gs500E. lookes like its been the same engine forever .
and is highly rated. even raced as a light weight bike on the track by some guys here in Richmond VA.
I love the bike
here are some pics when i first got it

Clutch abuse.
Ask G for more details, but I remember him hoisting a few on a GS500 courtesy bike. |

I have my heart set on the GS500F, I don't know why, but I sat on it in a showroom and I refuse to let anybody change my mind, it is such a lovely looking bike and it does resemble the GSXR, but the insurance is not nearly half as expensive.
I actually want it in yellow right now, but my mind keeps changing. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. hey thanks for the compliment california .
to let you know about insurence on the gs500e.
it cost me 378$ a year with progressive.
thats 25/50/20 liability.
I know it is way higher than normal for this bike because of my horrible driving record in a car.
but hey 378$ a year is still cheep to me. thats around 32$ a month. ____________________ 1991 Susuki GS500E with JET KIT and Vance & hines Exhaust. 15t front sprocket and 45t rear. a bunch of other little mods aswell.

I have a video of two guys on GS500Es doing wheelies and stoppies, and somewhere I have a link to their "guide" on how to.
But I agree, the GS500 is a damn nice bike ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>
