I made an impulse buy off ebay, silly yes. But I now have a pair of Nonfango 840 paniers for the princely sum of 30p yes thirty pence. I gave him a quid. He even gave me the 70p back and he didn't get to gouge me on postage either because I decided to pick them up Very Happy such honorable people are rare on ebay these days.

Anyway I digress.

They were cheap for a reason, they have no keys to the locks.

Now what are my options on opening them and replacing the locks?

I COULD go to a locksmith who'll pick it and maybe make me a set of keys for it, but I'm thinking this is gouge territory. Where a deep intake of breath will come before a price with two zeroes on the end is announced and a jar of vaseline is needed to be accounted for.

Will a bump key work on them?

The locks have 7 pins and there is no way I'd be able to pick them by pure rag I did once pick a 3 pin lock. Mostly by hitting it Laughing

I can of course just drill the suckers out, but tbh I'm not sure where I'd get replacement locks for them as they are like rocking horse poop.

What does the great BCF think?

A friend bought themselves a bike that has only a steering lock as it is a dirtbike.Unfortunately it had no key. So,having removed the lock from its place where it was bolted to the underside of the top yoke, the lock was taken to a shop that specialises in keys and locks where they made a key for the princely sum of less than £5.

Bargain.

Can't you buy lockpick guns these days?

Just make one, I also see no reason why you couldn't try a bump key on them.
