I let my heart rule my head and bid on an RD250 'project' on the Bay. All I saw were the brand new crank, shot blasted cases and cylinders, new paint job, powdercoated wheels. Advertised as a jigsaw project with all the hard work done.
Unfortunately..... Whilst all the things advertised were done, (so no arguments there) it is incomplete to a much larger degree than is really fair.
Whatever, its mine now so I have to make the best of it. I need a basket case complete bike to plunder, if anyone has such a thing in the back of the shed please let me know.
I'm putting this here rather than in the wants section to serve as a little warning that 'projects' can turn out to be a bigger prospect than you would originally think, and I've been at this for a few years now so should have known better.

You have two gold blobs, so I take it you`re a fairly regular member on here?
You will know that I am also looking for a two-smoke twin.
My problem is that I am VERY tight fisted when it comes to buying a non runner.
And I would need expert help if it was a case of dealing with cranks and main-bearing Sad

So you MUST post on here how you`re getting on with this project Thumbs Up
Otherwise I wont learn from your mistakes Smile Thumbs Up

Pics or it did`nt happen! Smile

Hi
One thing you will learn, tight fist and restoration jobs just dont go together. A quick checklist on this thing and I'm already up to £400 and the list is not compleat by a long way. Unless something does come along for about the £500 mark then I'll just have to put this back on the 'bay and take the hit. At least I'll be a bit more transparent when describing it.
I am hoping against hope that one of the BCF members will have a rolling wreck and a bit of pity.......

Cheers

Yes, the 'one' in Middlewich, wish I'd stayed in bed!
Its an RD250 E, what little there actually is of it.
Like I say, the devil is always in the detail and there are too many details in this one. I'll do some more research before throwing the towel in, trouble is, all the good suppliers seem to be south based. Lets see what turns up.
