Hey guys and girls...

So im a new biker... well i have been driving a little Honda Dream 125 Moped for 2 years and i wanted an upgrade. I have just recently purchsed a Honda NSR (i think 150 but maybe 125 as i am in Thailand and i know 150's were produced here).

Im new to bikes and mechanics of the bike but am very keen to learn. Can anyone help me with my bike regarrding what year it is from and if they think anything has been customised.. I.e. the wheels body work etc. The wheels look far smaller than most NSR's i am seeing online. Lastly.. i am just getting to understand a 2-stroke engine. How often should i be topping up the oil and if its lacking oil will that shoot out white smoke?

Also... any much needed tips for a new NSR rider! Im loving the bike and feel this could lead me onto getting a much newer and better bike once a lil more experienced.

The wheels do look very odd. Maybe off a moped or something...

You should be topping the oil tank up with fully synthetic 2-stroke oil. Failure to do this will cause the engine to seize. A bit of white smoke is normal for these bikes, especially when the engine is still cold.

hahaha.... Knowing Thailand I can imagine someone wacking on some moped wheels. Cheers for the knowledge on the oil. How often do you think the oil should need topping up? Also... how much is a little smoke? Sometimes this can be fairly thick, i guess when it is cold.

Also.. any ideas on the year of the bike? Or ways of finding out?

I don't know much about the NSR but I'm sure somebody will have a good idea. The amount of smoke is down to what oil is used, how worn the engine is and how the oil pump is adjusted. If it runs fine I wouldn't worry. Fill up the tank and let us know roughly how many miles it takes to use a certain amount.

The wheels look suspiciously like Honda Innova jobbies.

That is not an NSR125. For starters the frame is wrong.

Looks like a LS125 to me Smile

Similar bikes from what I know.

2 strokes always have white smoke, you should worry when there is no smoke Wink I always fill the oil up after putting fuel in because you dont want to ever run out or your engine will seize.

aaaaaaaaha..... this is now all starting to make sense. It is not an NSR. The frame is slightly different to my friends but i thought it may have been because it was slightly older than hers. They look extremely similar. Do you think they are the standard wheels?

This is good advice.. make sure the oil is always topped up. So when is white smoke too much white smoke? When it is cold and using high revs it shoots out alot more. Hmm... maybe i could take a picture and show u guys.

My first time driving a proper bike and my first time using BCF. I am impressed with both.... much appreciated advice, thanks.

IF you are having problems finding out the information on the bike, you could always use an online vin decoder.

Its normal for it to smoke more than usual when first started, mine does that too, filled the garage today when i was leting it warm up Laughing as long as it isnt still billowing smoke out after its fully warmed up your fine Wink

ok... i have just found out its an NS 150. Does anyone know anything about these? Is this number the Vin: NS150-006911

It was manufactured in Thailand.. im guessing its very similar to the LS125R that is very popular here in Thailand.

They look almost identical to those i had on my old CG125- Silly thin (no power to deal with XD) and the same spoke pattern.
