I was wondering if there is anyway of converting a 6v bike (suzuki gp125) to a 12v.. purely for reliability reasons, plus 6v sucks ass!

As has been said many a time on here 'anything can be done if you throw enough money at it!'.
Yes you could probably do it (if there is a 12v version of the bike), but you would have to change the entire electrical system (wiring loom, bulbs, coil and all the electrical stuff associated with the engine, relays and so on). A lot of work and money.

it has been done, well I have myself and the wiring can cope with 12v as they run under at a much lower load than 6v.

I have done almost the full hog with the 12v conversion as an experiment.
You need a cheapo 12v reg/rec and a 12v battery and then 12v bulbs of course!

I can't be arsed (sorry!) to go through the whole procedure but I'll link you to the other forum where it was talked in depth for a Yamaha RXS100. The GP is very similar.

suppose i wouldn't even need to throw that much at it, just money for reg, battery and bulbs...

Just my gp125 isn't so fun to ride at night, its about as bright as a dodo! led is the way forward, hopefully i can achieve this.

thanks for the link and info!

cheers

another option is to at least try the 6v halogen type bulb. I haven't tried it myself yet but suppose its worth a shot for the same price as a beer!

Try a new battery too - maplin do a good, cheap, sealed 6v battery 4.5a and it worked wonders on my gp125 no dimming lights or indicator failure! Still not as bright as 12v mind lol
