Hi

Someone at work is selling a CBR600, 2001 model. 4000 miles, not used in the wet. Standard except for a carbon hugger. Full service history (although due a service / MOT next month).

They seem to think it is worth £3900~£4500 on the basis of bikes for sale in Bike Trader, which strikes me as a bit high (after all, those on Bike Trader are probably selling for 10% below the asking price).

Someone else is thinking of buying it and asked what I thought it was worth. What are peoples views?

All the best

Keith

Used Bike Guide (August issue) gives a ball park figure of £4300 but from looking on Bike Trader the going price seems to be about £4000 from a dealer and £3700 privately.

mileage is nice and low, but its a 3 year old bike...

I would say £4k if you really wanted it (loved the colour etc) otherwise £3700 or less

£4k is about right if you look at what they go for on the private market.

I just bought a 2000W CBR600FX with 7000 miles on it for £2200

it needs a new chain and some pads along with some TLC to clean it up (poor things been left outside in the rain) but nothing major. Thought id done well.

Really good models go for silly money, ive seen 1999's go for 3700 so i wouldnt think 3900 or 4000 wuld be too unreasonable for a 2001!

Thats what i'm worried about, its only insured for what i bought it for so if someone was to crash into it i would be left without a replacement for the same cash!

I'd forgotten that RiDE did a price guide thingy in their special.

Quote:
£2900 - £4300. Low prices for new 600s don't seem to have affected the older CBR models quite as much as those of other brands. There's very little in terms of accessible performance between the FY and the latest supersports bikes, which makes them a good buy if you're not a slave to fashion.

The 1999 CBR won the title of 'Used Bike of the Decade' from CAP.

Hi

Thanks all. Think this CBR owner probably wants a touch too much as he thinks that he will get towards the top end of the £3900~£4500 range that he has seen them advertised at. £4000 seems to be about right from what everyone has said.

All the best

Keith
