Ive recently bought a suzuki TL1000 and fitted some race pipes,
everything was fine for a couple of days then after that it started to play up.
The fuel injection light comes on and off,and it will not run on tick over, i have to keep the revs on all the time. Also at low speeds the power delivery is extremly notchey, its like its either on or off, nothing in between.
Has anyone had this problem before with thier bike? or might know how to solve it?

Thanks in advance! Very Happy

What pipes did you fit? Does it have a timing retard eliminator (TRE) fitted to it? Has it had any other fueling mods done to it, like the air box modifaction, power commander?

I'd try firstly putting the cans you had on it before you changed them back on and see how it runs then, as I can't really see how fitting race pipes would create problems such as that and it could just be co-incidental. Thinking

Out of interest what TL1000 have you got, I had a TL1000R until recently and it was a great bike. Mr. Green

I don't suppose the original system had a lamba sensor as part of it? (oxygen sensor) In which case it's absence could severely knacker your fuelling. I suppose as well that if the race pipes are a lot more free flowing than the stock pipes, you'll be running pretty lean and so the bike will be running pretty rough.

The FI should compensate for the free flowing pipes. FI has sensors all over the place so it can compensate for things.

Sounds to me like a low battery. Give it a charge and see.

The whole FI system draws a lot of current, and at tickover/low revs the alternator is putting out very little charge.

Only if it has any sensors downstream of the combustion chamber.

All the best
