I took a tumble yesterday while riding from Shrewsbury to Northampton along the A5 to hand in my dissertation.
I'd just passed Brownhills when a set of lights went red in front of, so I started braking.

I the realised I was using too much front brake for the conditions, which were wet and miserable, and not enough back. Sadly, by the time I realised the front end was going, it had gone, leaving me like this:

So I ended up blocking both lanes of the A5, the two men in vans behind me got out and helped me out, pushing the bike to the side of the road for me.
I'd lost my L plate off the back which was recovered from the road, and the panel covering the battery on the right side was lost forever... Other than some scuffs to the exhaust though, that was the extent of it it seems. My original plan was to find somewhere with gaffa tape, tape the L plate back on and carry on. This was scuppered when I went to move the bike and realised I'd fucked my right collar bone up.
The accident was completely my fault, and hopefully I won't make the same mistake again.
Damage to the bike:
Missing panel.
Front mud guard twisted.
Scuffed exhaust.
:L: plate ripped off.
Damage to kit:
Hole in my Hood jeans.

Shredded water proofs.
Scuffed and battered helmet.
Damage to me:

My gear did the job, and the jeans paid back every penny I paid for them in saved skin alone. While I was waiting to be picked up, I was looking at the bike from the back and thinking how much better it looked without the L, extra incentive to take my tests when I'm recovered. Didn't get any pics of the bike, my brain wasn't working that well, and apologies for the dodginess of the paint diagram, I had to draw it left handed. |

The time off can be used to good effect by polishing up on your MS Paint.
Those diagrams are SHOCKING... (Quality not content).
Get well soon and these falls are worth ££££ in lessons. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

Honestly Berk, the things you'll do to lengthen dissertation deadlines! Nasty road to crash on, more than one lane..was lucky enough too on my crash, only realised how lucky until I got home. Like you, I was in a adrenaline haze and wanted to cradle the poor bike in my hands ____________________ Mod2 Passed 30/03/2011!

My father in law took the trailer over this morning to pick the bike up from the restaurant I pushed it to. It's a bugger pushing a bike up hill with one hand, but it was safer where I left it. It's currently sat snug in his garage, where knowing him and his love of engines, he'll give it a once over.
I'll head up next week sometime and take a look myself, see what needs doing.
My dissertation was posted for me while I was in the hospital, so that's all sorted hopefully.
I had to go back to the hospital today, to get checked over at the fracture clinic, my nan drove for an hour to come and take me to it, she then made me a bacon sarnie when we got back to my house. I fucking love my nan.
I'm pretty much going to be stuck with one shoulder about an inch shorter than the other now, though it did pop a little last night, realigning so the lump is no longer so prominent. That was unpleasant.
I did apologise for the quality of the paint diagram, but I'm crap at using the mouse in my left hand, it's better at up and down than round and round.
Thanks to everyone that has wished me well. |

Gws mate! I did a similar thing a couple years ago, but was fortunate enough to slow down significantly before I binned it (smidsy).
What bike btw? ____________________

Yamaha SR125, an old ugly bike, but it had served me well, until it tried to kill me anyway. I'm already looking forwards to getting back on it though. |

Went back to the fracture clinic yesterday, apparently he's happy with how my collar bone is healing.
This is how it was the day I broke it

This was it yesterday, from the same angle:

I'm still confused as to how that is healing, but there we go. I have more movement back in my shoulder now at least, but it's going to be a while before I can get back on the bike. |

Well Sir. I can see the quality of your Paint Diagrams has improved markedly....
Now... Can you do us all a favour and maybe colour them in?
It is the 21st Century and we all have full colour HD displays.
Cool break it looks well Oyah, Oyah...
GWS and hope the bike is a cheap fix.
And you need one of these now:
