Guys.

Soon I will be after a CBR 600 F, the new one with the pointed nose. I am just trying to check on my finances to see what my money could buy me.

If I said I had between 3k and 3.5k, what sort of year, mileage could I be looking at?

Thanks!

Chad.

1999 onwards.

You might get a 2001 bike at a stretch, but a 99/00 (FX/FY) is more likely. They're better anyway. Wink

Mileage varies so hugely I really couldn't say. It's a bit irrelevant anyway, a well-maintained high-miler is a better bet than an abused low-miler.

Hey Bendy,

Do you mean an X or Y Reg one?

Chad.

No, I mean the FX and FY models. The 1999 and 2000 bikes, both identical apart from the colour schemes and the last of the CBR600s to have carbs. The first of the aluminium framed ones.

Reg-wise, they'd be a late T plate up to an early X plate I believe.

I guess my final question is where should I buy such a bike?

Dealership - preferred?
Website - has anyone got any?
Auction - Do they happen for bikes?
ebay - Is this a good option?

Chad.

Dealerships tend to be a bit overpriced.

Get on BikeTrader, eBay, AdTrader, Loot, whatever your local free ads is and find some bikes, then go and see them. You'll get a better deal with a private sale.

eBay is fine provided you go and see the bike, don't just bid blindly. Often vehicle sales on eBay are done outside of the site - you go see it and you make them an offer there and then.

Bendy's right, it's the nicest CBR for the money, loving that proper ram air!
