What do I need to do? Fill in a form and send off the license? Will finally be legal on the DRZ ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

You don't need to do anything. No need to send it off to the DVLA, the restriction comes off on it's own.
If I were you I wouldn't send it off. If you send it off they stand more chance of cocking something up. ____________________ My Flickr |

IF you have restricted the bike remove it and take a ride with the full power see how much difference there is that would be my first choice. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

Well on the back of my license it has "=<25KW" - only way that is going to come off by itself is with tip-ex I am a bit worried they'll forget about my car license and give me a tractor license or something instead, hear rumours of that happening.
The bike isn't restricted, it's on about 35bhp stock apparently, and that is debatable so never bothered. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Every time that I've needed to get a new copy of my license, it turns out that I've lost the existing one. However, in the event of any dispute, I suspect that I may very well be able to find it again with a sufficiently determined search.
In your case (and mine, come next April) it's doubly important. When we get a new license, we'll find that the DVLA will have removed the "=<25KW" from section 12 but will also have moved the "From" date in section 10 forwards by 2 years, essentially stealing 2 years of experience off of us and screwing us for insurance purposes.
This is a complete dick move on their part; see Manatee's recent thread about passing Accelerated Access. He's following it up, and I've asked them about it separately, but as it stands, you'll want to encase your current photocard and your A2 pass certificate in perspex then lock them in a vault chained to a dragon.
We don't have to do anything to remove that 25kW restriction, it just automatically expires after 2 years. Our license category doesn't change in any way. See 91/433/EEC. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

To be fair i actually did lose my licence and sent off for a new one about a year later (was at uni so no need for it) and i got it back with the <25kw removed, the validity date 2 years forwards. It's only come up one when a police man stopped me for not having L plates (on an SRX600? fuck off.) and asked how long i'd been riding. I said 8 years, he said "Says you've only been riding nearly 5 years here". I then had to explain to him that i was restricted for 2 years and before that rode on L plates for over a year. His response was "Restricted? why, what did you do wrong?" |
