Basically had an issue with my GSXR forks leaking badly.

This has stopped. I have checked inside and there is fluid, its down a little (shows around 390 and needs 470) but its no longer leaking.

Would it have just taken time for it to seat properly? I mean its had some miles thrown at it recently as I commute on the motorway about 55miles a day.

Normal or an issue?

what GSXR is it?

If they have been leaking then I would be thinking about the replacing the seals...

Question is===> is it 100% safe to ride?

Answer is====> The bike is not ment to be leaking oil so there is a problem..

fork seals can get a bit of dirt/hair/anything that will track oil past the seals.

top up with oil and if it they still don't leak, they arent leaking, it is no more dangerous to ride than with new seals and you dont need to replace them. there are gadgets available that amount to "a bit of plastic" designed to scrape dirt from behind the seal without removing.

Dont waste money buying something that will do nothing, spend it on something that will - if you can confirm they arent leaking, why not go ahead and replace the fork oil.

If they are leaking, of course change them!

Paddy I think from recent conversations has changed the seals twice in the space of about 2/3 months and both times, and started leaking.

Unsure if its something actually wrong with the forks themselves ( originally thought badly pitted, but Paddy said these were fine.

I suppose wheelies dont help. Wink

Should have really link previous threads in here.

Rebuilt 3 or 4 times now.

Currently running OEM seals.

Put in 475ml every time.

Has always leaked after rebuilding.

For about a month they have leaked, now they have stopped. Safe or not I'll ride it, It has stopped flinging onto my disks and tyres, so its safer than what it was when I was riding like a loon.
