Man thats fucked.
Is the Conrod bent?
The crank bearings have had it
Gouge in the barrel

He said he was a bike mechanic? Sorry but that gouge should not be there and it wont be fine running like that, I suggest you take it back to him and beat him viciously with it until he refunds you.

As soon as someone says
"I am a bike mechanic and I have rebuilt it" just walk away.

That will not run without serious amounts of cash being chucked at it, and of course if he rebuilt it with a barrel like that, it is clear he doesn't now what he is doing, the piston and barrel are designed to be "snug" there should be no scratching, no wear and certainly not that in the barrel.

Looks like mine after the big end bearing shattered and a bit of it took an unhealthy interest in the piston... :/

Reggie mate either you're a good wind-up or you just don't know anything about engines. My vote is it's a wind-up since the top of the conrod is missing and you couldn't have 'taken the small end bearing out' as you say.

Either way that engine is wrecked.

Sorry mate. I disagree with your opinion.
I think it could easily be salvaged using a good quantity of J B Weld (OK let's just say 0.75Kg) and a pile of emery cloth.

I'm sure if you just tape a picture it will be fine.

Leave the scrathces in for character.

I fixed a GPZ305 that was a LOT worse than that.

I even used some of the original crank.

As Stinkers has, rather eloquently intimated, that 'so called' fooked up engine you have there is really only half-ways run in by BCF's strict engineering standards.

We have clashed MUCH worserer than that together for a ride-out/critical commute.

So how much do you want for it mate???
