https://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9659000/9659086.stm

This report doesn't seem to do the events that are happening at the moment in Russia justice.

Tens of thousands of people are currently protesting in Russia against Putin and his government.

More info here
https://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20111210/russia-election-fraud-protests-111210/

More shit seems to be going down than is being reported in main stream news outlets. I imagine over the next few hours the BBC will pick up on this properly but is this another revolution on its way?

Quote:
At least 50,000 police and riot troops were deployed in Moscow ahead of Saturday's protests.

Authorities have permitted up to 30,000 to attend the demonstration dubbed "For Fair Elections".

50,000 police Shocked

Widespread election fraud and Putin clinging to power.
Seems to be a turning point here.

TBH I'd be wary of western news outlets overegging the situation in Russia in fact I;d be wary of ALL news outlets.

For example fox news was recently caught out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvnj5VIDsNI&feature=player_embedded

Russia today (Russian state sponsored propaganda) says it looks like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf9i7O9XfgQ

Note how the BBC state propaganda didn't and hasn;t mentioned a peep about the OWS stuff.

My point is they are not making a big deal out of it. I have been reading from forums and other non mainstream places and it seems a lot more serious than what is being reported in UK/US news outlets.

Fox news is bullshit anyway. In fact I can't watch American TV because I just get annoyed at how biased they are being about everything.

Putin will just take them on, one at a time, or all at once, it's all the same to him.

And so is the BBC.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7wcPUoBdcg

It's usually just a more tightly controlled, slicker western propaganda agency.

You have to admit fox is a lot worse than the BBC though.

It's still pretty amazing to me that an ex KGB leader of Russia tolerates people voting against him, let alone protesting.

Maybe I am looking at this too simply but;

He has no other option. He is currently controlling state media to make this seem as little of a deal as possible.

He can't go out and arrest everyone, he has seen what happens elsewhere.

He can't massacre everyone, the UN would undoubtedly get involved.

He is a successful criminal, he is smart. He isn't going to go and do something stupid and tbh I can't see what he can do now. Shit is kicking off, the west seems to have picked up on it now.

Will be interesting to see what happens. A possible outcome is that he gets someone else to take power like he did with Mebedev.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2072195/Students-ordered-school-Saturday-Russia-resorts-devious-tricks-limit-numbers-anti-Putin-rally.html

Quote:
Students ordered to school on a Saturday as Russia resorts to 'devious tricks' to limit numbers at anti-Putin rally
Males over 17 also warned they could be conscripted into the Russian army if they protest
Tens of thousands expected to attend rally in Moscow in challenge to Putin's grip on power

The 17 conscription thing was false but was still released.

Quote:
And the Kremlin's top doctor even warned demonstrators that they could cause a flu epidemic or spread other illness by attending the rally.

They really are desperate for people not to come out and protest.

Russia will always be Putin's country until the man is dead. As has been said above, he will just put one of his closest lackeys into power and control the country through him.

Except is he doing THAT bad a job?

They've got a Russian (crumbling) NHS system and increased spending on that for years.

They have a 15% tax rate, FLAT RATE.

The booze is cheap.

Petrol is cheap.

You have a choice, i.e. you can burger off to your datcha and live off the land and opt out of the system completely.

I am talking about Putin. I am not defending anyone, you are the one doing that.

So what you are implying is that because the rest of the world is corrupt, it is ok for Putin?
His level of corruptness(?) is on a different level to the UK or US. (but don't get hung up on this comment, answer the ones above first Laughing )

Not really.

The difference is Putin is corrupt and he's yes and?

While our own politicians are incredibly corrupt and yet pretend that they are not.

Its all shades of grey, so while Putin is Black. Our own politians are an extremely dark shade of grey.

Putin is still the most popular politician in russia though? So he knows all he has to do is make some minor changes and he's back to infallible?

Has he started giving his troops Viagra yet and had them massacre some civilians?

Or has he invaded a few Third World countries under the bogus pretence of others doing the same? And how are them WMDs doing that will be ready in 45 minutes?

Maybe he should hold an election to the gold standard of that pillar of Western Democracy, the USA, ya know like that pristine one that George W Bush won in 2000?

They are all corrupt, but the recent crimes of the Bush, Blair, Cameron, Sarkozy, Obama regimes make Putin almost a saint in comparison.

The reason the controlled Western media, fake Soros funded "Freedom and Democracy" and "Human Rights" NGOs etc, hate Putin is because he isn't in the Rothschild Gang. If you're in their pocket you can do all the raping and massacres you want (ahem apartheid Israel) and the media wont give a flying fuck.

Putin was supposed to take over from drunken Boris, and continue that rampant corruption that let Western controlled multinationals rape Russia's national assets and resources for pennies on the dollar, leaving the Slavic masses in a total backward Third World status. The problem is that Putin is a Russian nationalist that thinks his country deserves the same first world status of other European countries. The fucking gall of the man!

Take the pay off, and we'll get you a nice cushy number somewhere in some bollocks of the UN, some very well paid directorships or consultancies of your choice, and you can dance and sing our tune, and you'll get lauded and praised for your good work.

Keep up defying us and, well, you saw what happened to Saddam and Gaddafi's family...
