What makes you think your intake valves need cleaning?

because the bike is from 1996 and i can see that nobody has cleaned anything
and i took off the carbs and cil. boots and i can see the buildup of carbon
so i would like to clean it since the carbs are off,and i am going to be changing the oil on the bike

Even if you clean your intake valves, the exhaust valves are going to be even more crap covered. If it's running fine I would wouldn't worry about it.

If you feel compelled to clean them properly and I'd whip the head off and get them out and clean them.

There is no need to "clean" your intake valves, or any valves unless there is a problem.

I can't think of an analogy right now but imagine a really go one emphasizing how pointless it would be and that is what I mean mmm'kay.

The time i used cleaning agents i ended up with knackered valve seals (oil pouring out of the exhaust!). As Big_Ham suggested, remove the head and clean the valves (all of them) up properly. Having said that, if your not experiencing loss of compression or any other valve related issue leave them alone. You will get crap building up on them, so long as the working area is clean don't worry about it.

.
A small amount of C4 placed in the intake tract can help loosen any deposits but can go horribly wrong if more than a few grams is used.

Hi

Only real way to do it properly is to take the head off, take the valves out and then clean them up. A lot of work.

Some fuel additives will work over a long period.

All the best

Keith

People have sprayed a fine mist of water into the airbox or carb entry's at tickover before with some resonable results. the logic is that if you have ever seen an engine with HGF where the water jacket has failed with a breach of the fire ring, then the water entering the cylinder usually does a very good job of steam cleaning the combustion chamber, valves and piston crown. I can't see it doing as much for the back of the inlet valves though.

Pretty much everyone gave good advice, you just ignored it and focused on your already chosen plan of cleaning your valves.

The only bit of a valve that really matters with regards to being clean is the seal with the valve seat. You won't really be able to get at it with the head still on and the valves still in.
All that goes into an engine is air, fuel and a little oil. The 600C heat will get rid of everything except carbon deposits which are hard to get rid of evn with the engine taken apart. Anything reactive enough to react with the carbon will react with the alloy of the engine and ruin it.
