Ok heres what happend,
I ran my bike through a flooded area, the bike was then hit with what they call a bow wave so the entire thing get a bath...
The bike ran fine through it until i hit clear road then it cut out.

I tried to start the bike and after it struggled for a while it started fine. On my ride home the bike started to fire on 2 cylinders before they cut out an the bike stalled. It only did this when i hit bumpy roads.

Heres what i did:
Checked all plugs - one was loose in the head but all were fine
Checked all my connections - some where full of corrosion but are now clean
Checked all fuses - all fine
All float bowls emptied - still cuts out
Checked filter - dry no water at all
Checked inlet rubbers etc - all fine

I havent checked the switch gears inside or the fuel pump just yet and the carbs need balancing, what am i missing? what would cause the bike to cut out on bumpy roads? Also my alarm is a system 3 datatool piece of shit but it was acting up way before this and wasn't effecting the running or performance of the bike.

It's probably got water in a block connector somewhere.
Look at the most vulnerable ones first.

That + dump the datatool piece of shit.
(I've had three on different bikes, no end of probs, one was caused by water in connector)

come to the conclusion that it must be the alarm causing my faults so will be killing it with fire tomorrow.

I cleaned every god dam connector on the bike and it ran fine but then today started fucking up again, i'd be in the garage right now ripping it out and smashing it up with my lump hammer but after the day i've had i'd probably miss and shatter my shin.

If it was the case then water would of been present in the strip down i just did, of which there was none.

when i was 16 i had a piaggio zip 50cc ped.and like a twat i decided to follow my mates off roading into a field.they built a jump and numpty here jumped it on his ped.anyways after that it always cut out on bumpy roads.i would be going 50 and the start of some speeds bumps then be at 15 at the end lol.anyways i took it to a bike shop and they told me the magneto was knackered and the piston rings buggered.but it was 100% fine before the jump so dont see how.but thats what they said.could it be worth a look???personally i would check all the connections you can get to and get some of that acf-50 on it all.iv heard only brilliant reviews about that stuff.

hope this helps

To make an engine run you need fuel, compression and a spark.

Fuel - Water in fuel/carbs? Drain carbs.
compression - Is it possible you engine took in water and buggered something internally?
Spark - Are you getting a strong blue spark on all cylinders?

If you read my post futher up, i drained the carbs, checked for contaminated oil and checked the plugs, all are fine.

well if your getting fresh fuel and a decent spark, I can't think of anything else.

You got any inline spark testers?

So it runs fine when not being ridden and on smooth roads but bumpy roads cause it to cut out?

It has to be electrical.

Perhaps a wire with broken insulation rubbing on the frame or something.

Does the alarm have a motion sensor? As in if you shake the bike it goes off?

If you are 100% sure it is not a loose connection, water in a connection and no bare wire earthing then the alarm seems most probable.

Bit random though.

i would take ALL the earths you can find off and clean the surface and make sure there all nipped up tight.i agree with the electrical.if there is a perfectly good spark and the fuel is defo fresh then its got to be electrical.i would try the earths, then start looking at the coils pack and cdi see how filthy they are.if the cdi is loose could it be that bouncing about on bumpy roads?spark plugs all tight?ht leads fixing onto the spark plug properly?if none of that then i would be getting worried and start looking at timing.check the flywheel too.make sure the points on the magneto are nice and clean.but im by far no expert but these are all things i would try first.

taken the alarm off but it wasnt that either, so i'm starting to get a bit confused now, the only things left is to change plugs and bypass the sidestand switch.

So you checked all electrical connections?

Herp?

Seriously though, if you haven't actually checked all the connections, CHECK EARTHS. Usually some around the headstock/under the tank. May be loose.

well if it was me i would next check the magneto connections??its got to be something that affecting the spark.and i think i remember you sayin all cylinders are affected.so if u have checked all connections i would start at the magneto and work my way to the ht leads.not sure if you can but try and test the cdi, coil pack, relays.but whatever it is the spark will be sound when testing the plugs as the bike isnt being bumped about.see if the cdi, coil pack, etc is loose and bouncing on the frame.

no packs are loose and theres no coil packs, the bike is fitted with stick coils. The magneto is inside the engine where no water has gotten to it.

This was my first thought when you said it only happens on bumpy roads.

oh right.on my bike the magneto is encased but wire come out of the top of the casing and go to the cdi etc etc but where they come out of the casing there is a rubber seal.if yours is the same would it not be worth a quick look?
