Well not really hate, resentment, envy and malice?

Car drivers don't like motorcyclists, cyclists don't seem to like motorcyclists, pedestrians aren't that keen on motorcyclists..

motorcyclists don't like cyclists, cars, lorries, buses or jaywalkers

but we all have to get on...

reminds me of the office

I'm always amused/saddened the way motorcyclists are so willing to hit out at other similar minority interests that are actually pretty similar, just with a little different values/annoyances. (Ie, it's very rare to cyclist speeding, but they often go on the pavement/jump red lights, while the opposite is true for motorbikes.)

perhaps I should have put agree/disagree

back to bikes after years of motoring various incidents cause comments above, things people have said and different reactions received as a biker, that's all.

merry christmas and a happy new year Wink

Fair enough.
Personally, I assume everyone else on the road is functionally retarded and/or borderline psychotic. Not out of any genuine hatred, it's more to do with being interested in staying alive.

A lot of motorbike riders and car drivers certainly seem to judging from BCF. Similarly for horse riders.

Now, if we're talking about ramblers, it might be justified Razz.
(Actually, I've been lucky generally and the vast majority I've met have been friendly.)

cyclist have a habit of two abreast riding, plus cars can be excessively cautious overtaking them (talking rural areas here) so you can be going round a bend to find you need to slow rapidly, however something like that might reasonably be expected and so maybe just one of those things.

My brother is a massively keen cyclist and he/his mates don't like motorcyclists much, this is in central London, imagine it's bikers using cycle lanes and turning in front of them.

Personally it's the car driver that either jumps or drifts absent mindedly out into your path that gives the most cause for concern.

Slightly off topic: cycling is actually healthy/exercise where as motorcycling isn't particularly (think how you feel after a long bike ride - or is it just me) yet motorcycling has that exciting image whereas cycling = lycra and sweat.

used to be a cyclist myself until I was knocked off by a car on a roundabout now if I cycle is sometimes on the pavement to avoid junctions!

Luckily we can all come together in our shared hatred of tramps. Thumbs UpVery HappyThumbs Up

As a sometime-cyclopath, I don't have much time for the light- and kerb- jumping variety, as their antics get me tarred with the same brush. Likewise with Sunday Hero biker.

OH HAI, welcome to BCF by the way. What are you riding?

I really hate the gobsh*ting drivel that usually starts with.. "I hate cyclists they don;t pay tax, they slow me down, they do this they do that..." if that cyclist was driving a car you'd be whining about the sheer amount of traffic on the road FFS... also that cyclist probably has a car and a couple of motorbikes and pays thrice the b*stard road tax,.. LOL... go grumpy me... if you can't overtake a bicycle go do your test again...

I actually quite like them, they give the place a touch of colour. Proper mental tramps that know their place, I mean, not professional pity-muggers that shuffle after you like change-zombies, claiming to have PTSD or whatever their excuse is.

My theory is that proper Mental Tramps aren't actually talking to themselves, they're talking to each other. Like, some drunken Scotch is hunched in a doorway in Soho ranting about the Lizard Saucer People, and another drunken Scotch is lying in a gutter in Prague and telling him that they're really just pawns on the Robot Girl Scouts. Makes sense, right? Thinking

Ah! But do we distinguish between the true bobble-hatter and the mere Sunday walker, or even the dedicated Hiker?

Had some great chats with hikers and more enlightened bobble-hatters.... even spread maps on bonets of Land-Rovers they are supposed to 'hate' to compare notes on routes, and get tips on places that are nice to visit!

Driven the Wayfarers on the Last Sunday before winter TRO, and had weekend walkers REFUSING to even aknowledge our presence, let alone recognise they are walking down the middle of a frigging ROAD... and Ham Acting huge coughing as we pass....

Actually stopped and asked one if they were 'OK' and needed a lift to hostpital!

Got a load of verbal about 'polution' and the enviroment off them. Told them to stop choking, I was burning LPG making nowt but carbon dioxide and water, and asked if it was thier car that was parked illegally blocking the lane where the tarmac ran out?

Meanwhile cyclists I do have a few issues with; especially since it has become a 'trendy' supposedly healthy thing to do.

Dum kids on BMX's diving off pavements, riding with no lights completely disregarding highway code.... round town.... NOT GOOD, but they do tend to be pretty dire and frequently 'ignorant' road users, picking and choosing which bits of road convention they follow.... making themselves a hazard choosing to be fast moving pedestrians one moment, slow moving road traffic the next...

I actually got 'honked' by one the other day backing off Snowies mum's drive.... in the dark, no lights, black cloths; riding down the Right hand pavement on the road T'd from Snowie's mums, decided to turn right, and jumps off the pavement into my path, then tooted me with his little clownie horn, for being in his way!

But in the counrtry side?

fifteen years ago, I used to be more than a little 'annoyed' by cyclists on Cannock Chase, riding at speed along the FOOTPATHS..

And was not at all sympathetic when Forrestry Commission refused to give permission for further 'Down-Hill' events there after the first couple of meetings saw even more cyclists riding even more errantly through the park.

Same riders would NOT ride on the pavements in town, or tear through the pedestrian shopping precinct... what makes them thing its any DIFFERENT on a foot-path through the woods?

What is even MORE annoying is that while the legitimate network of 'unsurfaced' public rights of way open to motoriused transport has been deminished by about half in the last ten years alone, the miles of 'new' cycle way opened in the last decade has extended the routes they have often exclusive use of by something like ten times.

Yet, an utter disregard to actual legal rights, AND you can walk into any Tourist information office who not only will NOT tell you of any unsurfaced rights of way you can legally drive a Land-Rover or ride a Dirt bike down, but suggest politely that you SHOULDN'T, asked for cycle routes will offer you maps and guides that frequently show routes that include FOOTPATHS that they CANT legally ride!

Its utter hypocracy; and shear predjudice, that 'Mountain Biking' is actually promoted with so little regard to actuall legal rights of way, while there is such dire standards of road 'manners' amongst the participants.

Yes, brushes and tar.... but sorry, the minority of genuinely contientiouse cyclists are a VERY small minority....

And it IS through ignorance, and people who OUGHT to know better, aren't doing much if anything to remidy it.

My eldest was a keen road and cross counrty cyclist; in clubs, took him to organised meets; 15 years old, his PE Teacher decided to offer 'Mountain Biking' as an activity on the carriculum. He put out a flyer to promote it, he was a member of the BCF (British Cycling Fedaration.... explains a few mistakes form people posting cycle related Q's on here, doesn't it!) and a member of a local Cross-Country cycle club, as well as member of amateur athletics council or whatever it is, and a paidf member of Warwickshire County Council..... seemed pretty good credentials to me, until I found out he was taking the kids, DURING SCHOOL TIME and riding around the public foot-paths of the local woods!

Horses? Yes, few gripes there, again to do with attitudes, and prim little girls on big horses, with NO road sense between them, believing that THEY must have right of way, regardless, becouse horses were here first, weren't they.... despite not having to have a licence,m insurance or ANY kind of checks that the horse or rider are 'road worthy'! And the EMMISSIONS! Shit! Laughing

But a smaller minority of a small minority... and people can be daft enough on FOOT!
