https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2064481/Terror-teen-armed-AK-47s-turns-suburban-street-war-zone.html

Lets see what we can find....

"'Flames were coming out his gun'" - Also know as muzzle flash

"AK-47s semi automatic machine guns" - LUL WUT

"'full metal jacket' type bullets that were able to penetrate the home's concrete blocks." - You know those nasty terrible FMJ bullets that are the standard round for almost every calibre.

Also amusing is how that every rifle that is built on the AK style platform is an super dangerous AK47 automatic death machine.

Dunno what the fuss is about. He was doing some peaceful protesting. Maybe if he'd have killed a few coppers or anyone else he didn't like after any armed response he could call on the UN for a No Fly Zone.

Bomb Orlando. I never did like Disneyland anyway.

Bloody fascists!
All he was doing was peacefully protesting against dictatorship which NATO countries definitely have not supported.
Jees!

My point was that whenever an AK based weapon is used, regardless of the variant, the media runs with the "AK47 omg herp derp they have these in 3rd world countries!!1" story.

In reality, the vast majority of AK's in the US are semi-automatic civilan versions, not select-fire assault rifles. Sure there will be some registered full-auto AK's (as well as some non-registered I'm sure) but most of them will be civilian models, such as the SAIGA sporter bottom in the pic.

https://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac300/mp_photoshooter/long%20guns/saiga_14.jpg

A analogy would be to say that there are a whole load of different VW Golf variants on the road. A few of these Golf maybe GTI models maybe with turbos and pretty quick. Yet when any Golf crashes, the media would go on about how all these dangerours souped-up killing machines on our roads, the worst car out there etc etc.

The daily mail do this everytime, they're not an expert on firearms but they're good at sensationalism and its a shame that so many people buy into it. As for the evil destructive AK47 rifle this kid had, if he had been using something less scary looking like a Ruger mini 30 (which can do just as much damage of not more) then the media wouldn't have had a field day

Be glad he wasn't using a Carcano M91/38 otherwise they'd be screaming that he's a Lee Harvey Oswald wannabe and that they ought to bunker up Obama. Rolling Eyes.

FMJ has been made out to be something special by movies and TV, when in reality it's just a standard bullet. I've seen the media talking about the issuing to Police of what seemed to be hollow point rounds as being a new round of death that will bounce around inside their body LOL! The best bit was that these were IIRC for the sidearms and MP5s, both of which are 9mm class weapons, and a single shot with a 9mm is very unlikely to be instantly fatal unless it is very well aimed. There are many stories (and probably videos) of people taling multiple 9mm rounds and carrying on fighting.

Naah, it'd have to have a misaligned scope and none of his prints, and with at least a miraculously found pristine used bullet that's gone through a few targets to be an LHO wannabe. Razz

Then **so I've heard** use the outcome of that program to try and justify measures asking to record the sales of multiple long arms, in case they are ending up in the hands of nasty Mexican naughty men.

It's America, just let them get on with shooting each other; they love it, it's what they do over there. Americans would be bored to death without guns.
