Ok have to get this off my chest, i was in a ok job for once in my life but then i contract ran out at the end of November which means no money for christmas, so i started to sell stuff i shouldnt be selling.

i only started doing this so i could at least buy my mum and dad something for chirstmas and i used to do it before i got my life sorted and got a job so its easy money for me.

i tic to most of my mates as i know i will get my money back and i have. but here is just one prick who lives 2 doors down from me who owes me £40 who hasn't payed in way over a week and now his gone into hiding. turned his phone off and i even rang his house phone to his mum saying that hes not in when i know he is.

i even rang his best mate and he said that he went into hiding and no spoke to him.

its not like he dont have a job he has a job so he has money, and its not the first time hes done it he has done it before to other people but never me as i live so close to him.

getting to the point off banging on his door and takes the piss as ive known him for many years.

what would you do in this situation ? i dont want to ruin his chrismas by hurting him , or might just up the pay if he dont have it before christmas

TBH £40 is a small price to pay to never see this person and to find out who your friends really are.

Just forget about it tbh, if you get it back consider it a small bonus. If you don't then its not really worth stressing over.

Some Zen like bloke once said, best revenge is to live a good life.

Hell and thats coming from ME. As I've said my company just got shot in the head after a company that owed me a lot of money went bust. Meh should have done more due diligence on them tbh.

Its probably why I don't loan out money EVER unless I really really really know you as a friend. And by friend I don't mean the devalued version of friend facebook uses wither, nor acquaintances, or just mates.

Spot on. Always expect to get nothing back when you give an individual cash. If/when they repay then treat it as a bonus.

If you're loaning people money then you're doing it because it's money they don't have... meaning they're unlikely to have that amount of money in the short term future also!

I think the question which needs to be asked is 'What discount for BCFers?'

You should have read your Shakespeare:

Quote:
Hamlet Act 1, scene 3, 75–77
Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.

+1 on that

if I loan someone money I make sure it won't leave me in shit
if I get it back thats fine if not no big deal

I have one friend thats in dire straits that I've "Loaned" a couple of hundred over the last year
that I know I'll never get back and wouldn't take it if offered as I know it would leave them short
and mean they'd have to skimp on food or leccy money

as to your situation when I did what you did £40 was nothing I had people hide from me
or avoid me for hundreds of pounds, some of which I never got back
but thats the risk you take

move on and put it behind you

I don't offer to lend money that I expect to get back.

Give freely (even if you call it a lend), or don't do it at all.

You'll get burned occasionally, but if you truly decide not to care, what difference does it make.

It's only money, how else have you ever wasted £40 in your life? (and that question can be applied to any amount you ever decide to lend/give).

[edit] Just to add, this applies to so many things in life, don't do things for people based on what you think it will get you in return.

Do it because you want to do it, and if you don't, then don't.

Don't lend people money, simple! Family and stuff you could consider it, but think of it more as giving them the money and if they give you it back then it's nice but not necessary. If someone needs to borrow money from you then the chances are that they are already living beyond their means!

If you didn't NEED your money then you wouldn't even be that bothered. The second you need it and he can't deliver you desperately want it back. He probably thought he'd have time to get it to you and now trying to hide away because he doesn't have it to spare and feels like a cunt.

He's in the wrong totally, but he's obviously crap with money and you should have realised he would take a while to give it back. Best thing you can do is drop the attitude and talk to the guy as a mate if he is one. Explain why you need it and if he can't deliver then he can't, get over it and get on with things.

Is it worth getting that upset over forty quid? annoyed a bit maybe?
You`ve just learnt a lesson about the type of people to do business with and it`s cost you forty quid Sad

Well.. I'm owed somewhere in the region of £2600 at the moment by one guy, was meant to be a £3500 loan to buy a car and pay back £200 a month.

Obviously it hasn't happened that way. Rolling Eyes

But on the other side of the table...I also owe someone decent some money, having to find a job and now waiting to get paid from that job to pay the guy is really pissing me off.. I hate owing money as such.

That and I always seem to get unexpected things happen and money disappears to them (such as a £1000 gas and electric bill because the cvnts stopped taking money out of my account)

Some people are just knobs, but as said above... I wouldn't lend something if you can't deal with losing it in the end.

Must sort out my money after christmas... Mad

I don't lend fuck all to anyone anymore.

Know the feeling, you almost dont want to ask for it back if its not a big amount, and when they are mates you dont wanna be a tight git for a tenner..

Don't lend = Problem solved Thumbs Up

Simple. Go bang his door. Don't let him know you're coming, so he opens the door. OR, get a mutual mate to say they're going round so he'll definitely open the door. Then kick him in the nuts, and empty his pockets.

HA! I should be an agony aunt or something. Thumbs Up
