Guy in the truck needs to do the time, if the biker was going a tiny bit slower he'd probably be dead, and he said it'd just gone from green to red, 1 admitting it was red when he went through it. 2 he had green for like 10 seconds so the other lights would have been red before the truck was anywhere near them.

Clear enough who was to blame, but the video is somewhat compromised by the friend constantly doing wheelies even through junctions, and *perhaps* the focus on trying to film that contributed to not spotting the truck (which was travelling pretty slow)

Is it only me? But I'm thinking if the biker was going a touch faster and did not brake he would have missed the truck (who was clearly in the wrong for jumping the red light) he would have missed the truck by a whisker?

So, we should all speed a little bit more, just to make sure something like this doesn't happen to us? Very Happy He was very lucky, but hopefully that driver got the book chucked at him for causing it. Hell had it been a car and not a bike, they'd both be dead.

Shocked

He was very fortunate not to break any bones there. I love the way the truck driver was called out on it straight away ("you ran a read light", "yeah I know") then a minute later his story changed to not having time to stop. What a dick!

I'm amazed that some of you are saying the rider could have avoided it.

Nobody is saying he could've actively foreseen that event, just that if he'd been going a touch faster it would've been a close-call rather than a collision. That's not say he should've gone faster, just that it's crazy how such a small variable could avoid these things - and how fast these things happen.

It was in no way his fault by no means at all, but if he had of pinned the throttle as he saw the truck he'd of MAYBE just about missed it.

I had a occasion before where I had someone pulled out of a side street from the right on me before, in that time and space I had the best option was to speed up and get past the crazy bitch before she pinned me against the gutter. Fortunately she only just made contact with me and I was able to hold it. That is the closest call I've had yet and no doubt there are more to come, but I'm glad I got off that time.

Me either, it would take super human reactions to avoid being hit by that truck.

I'dve managed it. Piece of piss.

I expect he felt better the next day and immediately started looking forward to the shiny new bike he was going to buy with all the insurance money.

The biker was riding too damn fast.

If an emergency vehicle had -legally - run the red light he'd have been hit by a police car, ambulance or fire truck, or possibly the coastguard. The driver was at fault but the biker was setting himself up for an accident so I can't feel all that sorry for him.

I've got to say the guy on the green bike was doing some pretty damn cool stunts tho.

He could have avoided it and I bet some aging advanced motorcycle training instructor in beige overalls and braces could demonstrate it without breaking a sweat. The driver was completely to blame but the biker was going too fast to stop in time. Had he been riding at 20mph he could have stopped easily, he might still have been rammed but his chances of avoiding the collision would be much higher.

The oh sh*t moment:

No he wasn't, the guy doing wheelies was.

Thats not fast at all.. the approaching speed of him and the truck are nearly the same.

Emergency vehicles wouldn't blast through a junction like that.

Would be interested to know what came of that collision. Obviously the truck drivers fault but I can't see a number plate on that bike or his mates bike. Now I don't know the laws over there but I would imagine that there would need to be a plate on the back.
