Just been repairing No1 sons bike and took it up the road for a quick test. I saw plod sat at the top of the road and sure enough, they followed me back to my house. The conversation went like this...

Plod - "Is this your bike"
Me - "No, its my boy's. Its all legal and your welcome to check it out"
Plod - "Ok, can we see your licence"
I went off to get my licence and when I went back I was met with..

Plod - "Are you insured to ride it? We've just checked out the policy and you're not mentioned?"
Me - "Yep, check out the policy on my Yamaha, I'm insured for other bikes"
So, he actually did and when he was radioing I'm getting that horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, "Did I take out additional bikes or try to save a fiver by not doing it this year?"

Anyway, he came back and told me that my insurance had checked out and I was all legal. I have to say he looked really pissed that he couldnt nick me - And I reckon he could hear my sphincter relax.

The look on a coppers face when they can't bump their numbers up by doing someone over a trivial matter instead of actually having to earn their money......priceless lol bet that felt good! Thumbs Up

Now that's one way to win over the community I suppose. Tossers. Rolling Eyes

Also seems to be endemic in the police force.

Nice one. Any idea why you got pulled? Did you ride up, spot him, and turn around? Were wheelies popped, or kittens run over?

Tip for next time though, if you're at your house, step inside, close the door and go and have a wank beer. What's Plod going to do? Go and get a warrant?

No, kick your door in and cite the terrorism act.

When test riding a bike up and down a street, yes it is. Let's keep things in perspective here.

Well the reason he said he pulled me was that something just didnt look right. I'm not sure what though, I had a helmet and gloves on and wasnt doing anything I should'nt. Its only a 110cc bike so wheelies and fast accelleration are out of the question.

As you say, I think he just thought I would be a nice easy target and it was priceless when he told me I was all legal Laughing

Well maybe because you came towards him then turned around and went back gave them the impression you were hiding something?

He wasn't riding without insurance was he sherlock, plod saw him riding along and obviously thought 'hold on this could be the next Raoul Moat' Thumbs Up

A lot of coppers would have ignored that unless obviously he's doing donuts in the middle of the street.

Well not that trivial, I mean no insurance may seem trvial for test riding a bike, but testing a vehicle is not allowed on the highway IIRC, just think that out there, some jobsworth is waiting to nick someone for both.

its annoying getting pulled, but I tend to look on the brighter side of it. That is what if it wasn't you riding it, and some low life scum riding it instead when he's nicked it? You would of been pleased they stop the tosser!

As long we are all legal then there's nothing to worry about, yes its an annoyance but I think it should of been looked upon the brighter side.

But hear me out, i'm not always pleased with coppers esp. the ones that try to go into so much fecking detail to find a way to fine you etc.

So I'm 50/50 really which depends on the idiot that pulls you in the first place.

I cut up an unmarked police car a while back and although it was my fault and he got mad (as anyone would) he was polite and considerate after. But then I have had some that pulled me and got all cocky. So there again it depends who you come across I suppose

If the police are following someone in a vehicle and intend to speak to them and that person gets to their house and goes in .
As far as I understand the police do not need a warrent to go get you if you won't come out and deal with them.

You know what police are like they will probably just lie and say that they were following you with blues trying to get you to pull over and try and get you for failing to stop as well.

I got away with calling a copper a prick the other week. I didnt realise he was a pig at first, only after i had insulted him.

Strangely he just drove off, tbh i was expecting at least a scuffle and then a load of trumped up charges.

Maybe it was because he was on his own...

Read the OP again.

Quote:

Plod - "Are you insured to ride it? We've just checked out the policy and you're not mentioned?"

How are they going to know that he has cover from his insurance without speaking to him?

Doesn't really matter if 'a lot of coppers would have ignored that'. He was on the road on a motor vehicle, reason enough to pull someone over and have a chat.

i really hate the fact a lot of people on this forum seem to be of the reasoning that if the police stop someone and find they're not doing anything wrong then they're 'dirty pig t0ssers' or something similar.

they have to question and check things or they'll never catch the real criminals.

to summarise:
cop: are you insured to ride this?
op: yup
cop: your name isnt on the insurance
op: im insured through mine
cop: *checks* oh yes you are, have a good day.

hardly bastard of the year...

im certainly not their biggest fan, i've had a run in or 2 with a couple of arrogant pricks but end of the day they're only doing their job. Mad

Yes it is. You can pull anyone to check their documents if they are using a motor vehicle on a road.

You're forgetting, they should be catching rapists and murders, not giving tickets to innocent motorists. Rolling Eyes

yes they fking well should be going after people that have commited crims that actually harm the community one of my friends nearly had his bike nicked fucked ignition ect finger prints all over the bike .....the police caught the guy and he got off with a warning i mean WTF ?

same friend got stopped a few days ago and got fined for a loud exaust

i think THAT ^^ says more about modern policeing than anything else

the police are there to collect another tax and on occasion deal with some actual crime .
in blackpool you have better chance getting something sorted if you ask a door man that a copper Sick

Him getting a warning wouldn't be down to the Police, that would be down to the CPS. And it annoys us just as much when they don't charge someone.

If he had a legal exhaust he wouldn't have got fined, rather simple really. Its not a tax, as if you don't break the law, you don't have to pay a fine.

I know I'm banging my head against a brick wall explaining this, you've got it into your head that all coppers are useless. Rolling Eyes
